I'm pretty big on having a locational connection to the teams I follow, so if KC (Chiefs, Royals, Wizards) and Kansas (T-bones, Jayhawks, Wildcats) were to lose their teams I might just quit caring entirely. I know for sure that if the Royals folded or left town, MLB would be dead to me....without a salary cap its just barely a sport worth paying attention to anyways.

I agree because it makes the Pairwise so unbalanced where basically the one conference that dominates the few non-conference games ends up getting five teams into the tourney. Plus you have teams like Minnesota and Wisconsin who only have one open weekend a year due to the College Hockey Showcase and their holiday tournaments and for the most part it's hard to get those caliber teams to travel for non-conference games [besides the Michigan/Michigan State showcase weekend, the U have traveled for a non-conference game something like twice in the past six years - once for Ohio State and once for BU opening up their new arena]. The best solution would be to have more games [as with only 34-36 games per season and most conferences having to schedule for twelve teams] but with the economy, few teams using hockey as a revenue sport and the fact that college hockey has the longest season already that won't happen.
Probably the best solution to getting out in WCHA country is traveling to one of the regionals or Frozen Fours; the Western one is almost always some combination of Denver, Minneapolis, St. Paul [neighboring cities but two different sites] or Madison.

Not sure - the only place that I know for sure had the clear boards was the St. Paul Civic Center up until the Moose AHL team showed up [something to do with bad sightlines].
Maybe that is what I am thinking of.
Edit: According to wikipedia the clear boards were needed to improve sightlines.
The Civic Center was unique in North America in that the hockey dasher boards were made of clear acrylic glass from the shelf all the way down to the ice. This was because the arena's seating configuration was round, and the closest seats between the blue lines were not flush against the boards. The clear boards made for better sightlines for most spectators seated between the blue lines, since the seating angles in the Civic Center were shallow.
The clear boards were replaced with standard white dashers boards when the Minnesota Moose (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acrylic_glass) of the International Hockey League played there, as the team needed to be able to sell advertising on the boards. This wrecked the sightlines for what should have been the best seats, and this illustrated that Saint Paul needed a new arena with appropriately-designed seating.
