skate and surf festival

hey i went friday for the skate and surf festival.....fucking amazing the first band i saw was next to nothing at the bmx stage they werent that bad and then i saw home grown holy crap they are soo good in concert and they played every song i liked plus they covered that barbie girl song after that was coheed and cambria where i just walked around and saw the booths which were pretty cool thrice came on and they were freakin amazing the pit was freakin out during them...but the show belonged to andrew wk he was so great during party hard he let like 50 kids onstage and they were like moshing and it was great after him was the starting line who put on an awesome performance and then i left.

the special guest was not tsl acoustic it was Endor. i think they played earlier too.

yea there was 3 stages and im sure 2 other bands were playing while TSL played. too bad simple plan didnt play eh? *pukes*

okay well it said on the paramount stage schedule ??????????? and it didnt say that on anyother schedule and yeah i know people hate simple plan but i like them and i think they have alot of talent and are really great guys... if you think differently keep it to yourself... no need to be rude... eh?

I took two disposable cameras worth but I haven't gotten them developed yet. I'm sure they'll put some up on the website though. I went to go see Jamison play but the guy was singing in such a low voice it was impossible to hear him.

yea i was there all three days and last year me and my friends were in a few pics and i wanted to try and find myself again. during TSL / HG / THRICE the cameras were right on us

alright to clear up that whole special guest thing. the band that filled the ???????? spot was the starting line acoustic. it wasn't really a surrprise though because it was announced before S&S Gest even began. endor was on the schedule already for sunday as the last band on the bmx stage.

i cant believe i missed this before.. but how on earth can you miss coheed and cambrias performance to check out the booths? thats sad :eek:

yeaa i was there friday night till the end, it was AMAZING... i thought tsl was amazing live, i like them wayy more than i did before that night...the crowd was great for andrew wk ur right...anddd yea thrice was amazing too, it was just a great experience. wish i could've gone sat :( but fiday was still awesome

Haha, kudos to whoever pulled this thread up from the archives. Skate & Surf was fantastic, especially the 2003 year in discussion. Finch, Taking Back Sunday and Thursday all in a row on that Saturday... one of the best shows I've ever been to. Bamboozle is a joke compared to this. I hope those rumors of S&S returning are true, we sure could use it.

I spoke to their guy Elmo at Bamboozle yesterday. He said Skate and Surf WILL return to Asbury Park in 2010, and The Bamboozle WILL also RETURN but is moving, but he cannot say where yet, just that it's going to be closer to the new train.

I have fond memories of Skate and Surf BUT the last two years (of its history) were absolute bull shite. The traffic unbearable, crowds were huge and the buliding pure insanity, the out of control scheduling, and the all hating fire chief. The best thing to happen was to move this to a larger venue, easy to get to and have some sense of control over scheduling. Bamboozle has turned out to be a blast, they took over when the politicains of Ass Park couldn't stand to have this event.

Just to clarify things for everyone. bamboozle and skate and surf were actaully all made and worked by the same ppl. They both had the same creators. But after skate and surf when down the tubes bamboozle took the rains and john the creator took over boozle for good. But in 2010 they decided to make it all happen. bamboozle and skate and surf are both gonna be fests this year. Bamboozle isn't going anywhere they just decided to do both fests becuase of the damnd they were receiving. Also for 2010 they're bringing back the Saints and sinners festival. So expect 3 diffrent festivals this year bamboozle, skate and surf, and saints and sinners. :) thats right be happy be very happy :)

No they weren't. Skate and Surf was ConcertsEast and Bamboozle was Max Cruise. There was a lawsuit between the two when Bamboozle first became like it is today back in 2004 or 05.

na dude john the founder of bamboozle was on of the partners/ creators of skate and surf. weather if be he was in a diffrent orgonization then or not he still was part of it. now him and the other founders have talked it out and decided to bring back skate and surf.

yeeeah skate and surf was run by concerts east and bamboozle was max cruise. and i mean, if you were going to shows in this area circa 2000-2003 you know how different the level of competence between those two companies was. and if you look up the trademark for skate and surf, its still owned by concerts east, which im pretty sure was bought by live nation. so i dont think max cruise could legally use the name anyway.
