Who has rituals for this? I am always up by 3, out the door by 4 at the latest. McDonalds coffee, then driving to and getting in line at whichever store has what I'm looking for the most. This year, I hear someone is going to have $50 Blu-Ray players. I am all over that.

I tried this once waiting in line at bestbuy for a plasma TV. When the doors open your place in line didn't matter and everyone bullrushed the doors. I will never wait in line like that ever again.
I have to work during it. It's so fun.

I normally wake up in the morning grab some breakfast take a shower and then go to work for 8 hours. Exciting.

My friends and I go almost every year. People are insane. We never buy anything really. We just hide stuff, like when XBox 360 came out we took a lot of games and hid them in washer and dryers at Best Buy.

never done it, I'm contemplating doing it this year just so I can get myself a cheap external hard drive, and if I can think of some christmas presents for people maybe that too.

Yeah it depends on what's on sale because I'm not currently in need of buying anything large, like a new TV or appliance. A blu ray player under 80 bucks would be sweet but my TV is only 720 anyway.

If you don't have one but you run in there first - too bad. It's pretty organized.

Yeah they handed out the product slips and all. But they were letting in only a few people at once and instead of keeping it orderly everyone tried to run in at once. It was a mess.

Fearful. I worked at Toys R Us last year, but didn't have to come in until 1pm-ish so it was really dead.
This year I'm working at Best Buy. And someone I worked with just asked if I wanted to switch shifts... I was closing (DO NOT WANT on Black Friday) so now I'm opening, since the only shifts you can work are like.. 3am-3pm or 1pm-1am or something? I don't know. But now I'm opening at Best Buy on Black Friday. Did I mention that the Best Buy I work at is also a main entrance to a mall, with a Sears, Macys, Old Navy, etc? I think I'm crazy, but I'd rather be able to go home and sleep than work until 2am or later (however long it takes to close) and potentially have to open the next morning.

Not trying to offend you or anything, but that's pretty immature for a 27 year old. Pretty cruel too.
I've decided to finally make the jump from DVD to Blu-Ray, but it's been hard finding out which is best for the price. I'm looking to spend $150-200, I know I'm not going to get the best for that price but I want something pretty good. The ones I'm considering are the Sony BDP-S360 and the Samsung BD-P1600. Also, the LG BD-370 is on Amazon until Sunday for a pretty good price with 3 free movies. http://bfads.net/LG-BD370-Bluray-Player-w-3-Movies-148-Shipped
So, which of the three should I go for or is there a different one I should consider? Thanks for the help.

I've been looking at reviews all night on there, so far the Samsung sounds best. I'd like somebody to dumb it down a little bit. I like the Netflix streaming but I can do that on my Xbox, so now I'm just wondering if the Sony or Samsung has better audio/video output.

I have plenty of knowledge on the subject - but what are you questions really? Just which is better? Almost every single one is going to look different to each person's individual eye. We all see blacks different, we all see saturation different, etc. ... so it's wicked hard to judge and just say 'this one's better,' you know? Especially for the middle of the road ones.
That LG is probably going to have the worst picture quality of the 3 you listed, but will have YouTube and Netflix (but you don't seem interested in that.
The Sony is what you'd expect from Sony. Not a whole lot in the features department but have a better picture, and probably be the most reliable.
For your money, I'd go with the Samsung ... not only based on what I've seen from various review sites, but because I myself am a HUGE Samsung fanboy. Their TV's are the greatest out there and I'd have to venture to guess their BD players are fantastic. A great part of the BDP-1600, though, seems to be the load times, which on the cheaper players can be damn near unbearable.
The best overall for your money would absolutely be the Playstation 3. $300 and you get (arguably) the best Blu-ray Disc player you can find and a hi-def gaming system, built in wi-fi w/ web browser, streaming Netflix, etc. But I totally understand if you aren't looking to spend that much. So like I said at the beginning, any specific questions you have about the players or about Blu-ray in general, hurl 'em my way.
Yeah, I'm not gonna get a Magnavox haha
don't buy any profile 1.x players. As mentioned earlier, the PS3 is by far the best bet for a blu ray player. I've also got a samsung, and I'm very impressed by it, but for plain out bang for your buck, I'd say PS3, which was only like $50 or so more than the samsung.

Yeah, from those Cnet reviews I've also been thinking the Samsung would be best. That Sony models has none of the streaming, and with the Samsung I'd just need to buy the dongle. The Sony sounds like it's got some backwards compatible issues and I don't wanna drop $200 just to not hve some of my DVDs work. The only issue they've had with the Samsung was that the front panel flipped down and looked bad, but I'm not really getting it for appearance. Unless there's something drastic I'm missing, it seems like I'm getting the Samsung.

I recently bought the 1600 and I absolutely love everything about it. I also have the dongle and the Netflix streaming is flawless. You can also listen to Pandora, and watch videos on Youtube. You should go into the store and look at the player itself, because I actually like the flipdown screen since it covers all the buttons (which I never use since it's all on the remote). I like the looks of it a whole lot more than the 3600 (which is a lot more round), but the 1600 doesn't have any internal memory which means you can't use the Blu-ray Live features, although someone I work with said you can if you plug a USB flash drive in. Ask me more questions if you want, but I'd highly recommend it.
And what TV are you using it on? I also have a Samsung TV so the remote works both my TV and BR player, so I don't have two remotes.

there probably is no bluray player with the same quality as the ps3 for 200. ps3 has BD live, a hard drive, mangaged copy(a feature that lets you download the movie and save an hd to the hard drive, though it will only work on newer blu rays that have this feature built into it) and built-in wifi. most 200 dollar bluray players wont have all of those. also the ps3 will recieve tons of firmware updates that will increase the functionality of the bluray player. you can also get a fat ps3 for like 250 at alot of places though. i would highly recommend a bluray remote too obviously since your using it as a bluray player.
EDIT: i forgot to mention netflix support and a video buying (or rental) service on the playstation network.

yes but i would assume the ps3 would get far much more support over the next 5 years, than a cheap player will. plus not only are you getting all this video service it can play games which i know not everybody need but if your buying a ps3 as a bluray player your pretty much getting the ability to play games for free.

I've got a 40" Olevia no idea what model, I got it a couple years back on black friday. Once I get an Tivo HD I can finally activate HD on the thing. I use the Netflix on my 360 all the time, so it's going to be nice not having to switch tuners and sign in just to get to it.
Also, I've thought about getting the PS3 but with my current setup and finances and it just doesn't really fit. I could just be a selfish bastard and get the PS3, but I need to buy some gifts for other people too.
I was going to buy the Samsung one from B&H, but then I decided to look at reviews for it...

I am currently looking at purchasing one actually. I've decided to go with the LG BD390. I initially wanted a Sony, but realized they don't have any models with WiFi. I then looked at Samsung and found a promising review of one on CNET. Then I looked at the User Reviews. About 150 people gave negative comments about it resulting in 2 out of 5 stars. CNET gave it 4. Apparently they stop functioning in less than a week very frequently.
The LG had a terrific review by CNET staff, as well as customer reviews. It's $259.99, but it has everything I need.

Any thoughts on this (http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMP-BD60-Blu-ray-Player-Black/dp/B001V9LA44/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1259421217&sr=8-1) Blu Ray player? I really just want one, right now, that plays the discs. Not too interested in the other content at this point and the reviews seem pretty good for it.
