i know that south park makes fun of it in that episode with the taco that craps ice cream.
well, it's better than South Park could ever be
it's one of the better made science fiction films from the 90's.
if you like good movies with interesting subjects, then you should see it.
dude, awesome, same here! i used to love it, and just a couple weeks ago i watched it for the first time in something like 7 years. such a great movie. brought back so many memories too.

this is really weird, I was going to make a thread on this movie to see how people felt about it. I remember everyone hating it but I had to watch it for a class and everyone seemed to love it

fell asleep before i started the paper last night. It's for a Morality and Film class. Each week we are given selected texts and a film and we have to write a brief paper connecting the two
that's cool. i think Contact would be a great film to write about.

Very interesting idea, and some nice touches, but the end is so slight. After sitting through the entire film, I wanted there to be more of a resolution than 'Jody Foster was right but everybody on earth thinks she is full of shit'
i don't understand why people think that it was her father. he specifically says, "we thought it would be better to appear to you like this." it WAS an alien, they just thought it would be better to appear familiar...
