View Full Version : Is it worth it to go see Kevin Smith live?

For those who have gone to see Kevin Smith speak, is it worth going? I'm worried I'm going to go and it is going to be exactly like the three "evening with..." DVDs he has released. I don't want to pay and then end up seeing old material over and over again. I know a lot of it is Q&A, so I suppose it is partially based on what the crowd asks. So if you have gone in the past, let me know how it was and if you considered it worth going to.

It's mainly Q&A based, he does switch his stories up so you're not getting a live rendition of his DVDs, all in all he's really funny and I'd go see him again in a heartbeat

If your worried about hearing similar questions think of a couple for yourself and hope you get to ask them.

P.S I used to love KS, but Zach and Miri made me iffy.

He is fantastic to see live, absolutely hilarious. And he will guaranteed not rehash any stories from the 3 Evening With's. Plus, if you see him now, he'll be talking about his experience shooting A Couple Of Dicks. I'd go

He doesn't tend to repeat stories once they make it to the DVDs, because he knows that most people have heard them already.

If you listen to SModcast you may get some repeated or similar stories to the stuff on that. IE, he'll talk about his love for Gretzky a lot (probably). Even though it is based off of audience questions, he does manage to bring them around to some staple stories he prepares for each Q&A. Considering that this batch he's doing is pretty much a 'tour' of sorts, he's probably got a lot of prerehearsed material to use.

But if you are a big fan, it is definitely worth it. I saw him in February and it was definitely amazing. I'm planning on seeing him again next time he's in town. But I'm a gigantic fan of his.

No kidding. Shows no sign of abating, either. Still talks about him like he's a God, or the closest thing to a God he can think of.

Thanks for all of the input. I was definitely giving it heavy consideration, but you guys kind of sealed the deal for me. I'm a huge fan and my biggest fear was it being old material rehashed. So I'm glad to hear I'm in for new material. Thanks again.

You'll have a great time. When I saw him he spoke for 7 hours (without taking a break). Pretty impressive.

I think you have my favorite avatar pic on this whole website. I love that scene, and that movie.

Thank you. It is a fantastic scene and I'm glad you appreciate it. I was thinking about changing it recently, but maybe I will keep it around a little longer.

He's only doing about three hours on this tour, venues have been cracking down on how late he can go.

Please do. I still crack up at that scene every time, and to now be able to stare at a still shot of it- haha, great stuff.

Go. no question. also, try and keep track of how many times he says "and shit like that", it's mind boggling.

"and whatnot" is another one he uses a lot.
