Yeah, 300K can't be good for a band that sold like 1.4 million last time. Their current single could have been the push they needed - guess it didn't happen. Interesting, wonder what will happen.

Eh, shows how fickle pop-punk audiences can be. I must be in the minority but I actually do enjoy Lights & Sounds (although, the string of mid-tempo songs in the middle of the disc can drag on). City Of Devils is a favorite. I think they tried going straight for CHR radio on "Rough Landing, Holly" and it, had, a rough landing (oh........)

As for Hoobastank, it's a solid disc, but they led with that ballad which (maybe it wasn't on purpose) made it seem like they were trying to replicate "The Reason" and since they're not really a "cool" band anymore the hip alt-rock stations (KROQ, Live 105, etc.) don't really play them, so without Top 40 on their side, they're pretty much fucked as well.

I'm also curious to see if Island will keep Thursday (and Thrice for that matter)

I expected The Walkmen's total sales to be much higher by now. I guess that's what happens when you release a CD much worse than Bows and Arrows.

I'm listening to the disc right now (L&S) and it's finally clicked, I really like it at the moment. I think there are a bunch of things that they could have done different - but for some reason, it just really clicks at the moment.

This kills me too, Sound The Alarm is such a fantastic album and even surprised the shit out of me. Its up there with the new TBS, Thursday, and Hit the Lights for my fav album of 2006.

Im disappointed in the AVA soundscan results. Its a pretty good album and isnt being well recieved in my opinion. Too many haters and bootleggers. I guess they arent getting pushed enough.

AFI selling 200k, I dont know about that...but hopefully. Its a great album though

When he sings "What if I wanted you there right now, would you fall in the fire burn me down?" I get chills. They don't seem to have a lot of confidence in the material yet though (even on the Virgin tour, they only played like 5 songs from it)

Why is that funny exactly?

Anyway, where are the numbers for Damone's "Out Here All Night"? They had their first week (I bought it -- awesome poprock CD), but they never get mentioned on the site. And hell, if Paramore can, Damone sure as hell can.

Jason I was just wondering - what is your prediction on the fate of Thursday and Thrice? - even if you just guess - do you think Island is the type of label who will go with the longevity angle or are they frowning greatly upon those numbers?

Its sad I think both those bands have so much to say and have such a refreshing way at approaching music. I wish they broke massive over a MCR or something. Just because I think they are scene defining bands- they are the optiome of this new hybrid of rock that was born of late.

I know...I had never heard of them prior to it...and they opened with a song off their EP...I turned to my friend and said "They sound like ATDI, I love it". They were the first opener, and they outperformed all the other bands there (Punchline, The Audition)

Buckcherry - 15: 18,175 (139,257)

That seems doing very well for a record that's been out since April, and they haven't done much but their own headlining tours playing to about a hundred a night.
I don't think that their last CD, Timebomb, sold much more than this.
15 is a great fucking record though, can't wait till Wednesday to see them with Nonpoint.

yeah quietdrive selling that many is surprising...the only reason i've heard of them is because they are touring with houston calls.....you would think that cartel would sell more copies than them in a week...even if this IS QD's first week...Cartel is surely picking up in popularity!

i know its been off the charts for the past few weeks, but does anyone have punchlines numbers?
anyone have any predictions for head automatica next week?

hmmmmmmmmmm
hopefully good. i know i bought the album and for the most part pleased with it. i wished they could have had some more songs in the vain of the first 4 (which is the best four on the album IMO).

Head Automatica's album doesn't show up on the iTunes store for me :(

but i hope their numbers are really good after this week. and the new AFI, blew me away. it was nothing i expected it to be.
