Is my favourite band/musician ever. I have every mainstream album/ep he has released and 'aquired' the harded to get stuff in mp3 format.
Anyone who says they don't like his voice and therefor hates the music can fuck off and not talk to me again...
IMO,
Lifted>Fevers and Mirrors>Every Day And Every Night Ep> I'm Wide Awake It's Morning>Digital Ash In A Digital Urn>Letting Off The Happiness.
That being said, even his worst work is better than most bands best work
Not necessarily acoustic.
But
Fevers + Mirrors > Digital Ash > Lifted > Letting off the happiness > I'm wide awake ...
and then I have too many EPs to even begin listing them

No. No I do not.
These albums are cheap and easy as hell to find, so buy them your self

I love Bright Eyes an incredible amount, my favourite band. Conor is incredible.
I've tried to buy as many Bright Eyes cds as I could (but that's not the easiest thing when you live in a country like France). I don't think I could choose a favourite. Each album blew me away when I first listened to them. I can't wait for the compilation 'Noise Floor' to come out and I can't wait to move over to the UK so that I can find the cds i'm missing. And i'm just waiting for the day I get to see that band live.
I've heard different views on Bright Eyes live. Some say the live shows aren't as good as they used to be, that Conor doesn't seem to be that much into it. I don't think I'd complain at all if I were to see BE live.

Not a fan. Conor is a good song writer and a terrible singer, in my opinion. I know a few people that are very into him so I've gotten a lot of exposure to the music. A handful of the songs are okay, but it's just not my thing. A lot of the stuff is too political for me.

I love Bright Eyes. I can't really put the albums in an order, though, it just seems weird. I like them all individually, but for different reasons. What is everyone's favorite individual tracks? Some of my favorites are:
At the Bottom of Everything
The City Has Sex
Road to Joy
The Tree's Get Wheeled Away (amazing rare song that will be on Noise Floor)
You Will. You? Will. You? Will. You? Will
Let's Not Shit Ourselves (To Love and To Be Loved)
Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh
Drunk Kid Catholic
Arc of Time (Time Code)
Make War
Loose Leaves

I think it's really sad that I'm 14 years old and I've already gone through the immature, melodramatic phase one must be in in order to tolerate Conor Oberst's whiny, contrived, poorly composed, "emotional" ramblings. You guys need to grow up and realize that he is overrated, self-absorbed, melodramatic, and mostly talentless.
Bottom line: Fuck Conor Oberst. Fuck him right in the ear.

More power to you!
I think it's really sad that you're still going through the immature, melodramatic phase you must be in in order to think that you are the sole chooser of what is overrated, self-absored, melodramatic (again!), and mostly tasteless. People have different opinions on different things, and you aren't better than anyone just because you want to have sex with Conor's...um, ear.

I personally love Conor Oberst. TXHCryan I love how your completely ignoring everything about his music except what you might notice listening to one song by him ever and not taking the time to think about it. You should do yourself a favor and sit down for one hour a week and listen to music you "hate" now. I do it, and it's sort of amazing just how much I can start to appreciate about whatever the new matterial I'm listening to.
For example, when I first bought the Dresden Dolls self-titled album, I absolutely hated it. But recently listening closer to it I've found some intresting things about thier music that I do like.
So to get back to Bright Eyes. Sit down with a good hour long playlist of their music and try sitting through it, really listening, and although your prob not gunna love it, I would bet there's something in there you'll like.

That is seriously the stupidest thing I think I have ever read. "Tim Kasher is great and a wonderful musician, but since he is proud of where he grew up and the scene that he grew out of, and continues to support them when he could probably be on bigger labels, he sucks and deserves no respect"
Looking at your list of favorite artists, I would think that you of all people would understand about being proud of your scene and showing support. Then again, you are 14, so I guess I shouldn't put those kinds of moral expectations on you. After all, it is kind of hard to show support when your mom has to drop you off at shows. ;)

i didn't call tim great or wonderful. i said he's better than conor oberst, which isn't a huge deal since conor sucks.
fuck you. you think my parents give me rides to shows? fuck NO. i don't think they ever have. i spend pretty much all of my time involved in the san antonio scene and i get rides from other kids with licenses that are headed to shows. so PLEASE do not feed me bullshit about me being hypocritical about being true to your scene.

serioysly txhCRYan it is supremely obvious that you are a closet Bright Eyes fan. You have every album but you hide them in a shoebox under your bed so that your hxc friends don't find them. then when they come over and see you on a forum about conor and ask what you are doing yo say that you are just making fun of conor because he is so terrible and you dont know how anyone could listen to him but meanwhile you die a little inside everytime someone on these forums rips you apart because you really love conor and you like tim kasher but your friends already give you shit for liking one saddle creek band so why make it two?

props for being 14 and realizing that being self-absorbed and meodramatic is a waste of time.
You're right about two things, Conor is self-absorbed and melodramatic.
You are VERY VERY wrong about two other things, he is not overrated, and not talentless.
Conor is a brilliant writer, and a decent musician, although he plays everything minimally because the important part of his songs are his writing, and what he has to say.
And still not all his writing is self-absorbed and melodramatic. He makes very relative and inspiring statements on life in many of his songs (example:the bottom of everything).
These songs also happen to be brilliantly written.

amazing music. so soothing.
I like Connor. BUT, he is not that great. His albums tend to have the following formula:
Tracks 1-8: Solid songs. They are the songs you think of when you think of Bright Eyes. They aren't the best songs you've ever heard, but they are decent.
Tracks 9-13: Usually songs that a band would record, listen to, and re-record in a completely different way b/c the way it exists in this pre-mix phase sucks. Connor doesn't mix and makes it a track in this range.
Tracks 13-20billion: These are the songs most bands write on tour and lose because, in all honesty, they suck. Yet, Connor heralds these songs and they are the bulk of his catalogue. He just pulls out the handy-dandy 4-track and records a song he wrote that sucks.
And there goes your typical Bright Eyes album. The formula is tested and proved.
I listened to The Soviettes LP III and The Damned's Machine Gun Ettiqutte while writing this.
and that was probably the most obscure reference I will ever make. If ANYONE can tell me what author does that in his works I will mail you my severed penis.

i would be, too...
i love bright eyes. i think of conor as a poet. a slightly self-destructive poet, but a poet nonetheless. i have constant arguments with my mom about his choice to express himself through music (she thinks he would be much more successful and reach a much wider audience solely as a writer, so his voice wouldn't drive people away). i think that conor basically does whatever the hell he wants to. if he wants to record a song completely on a computer, he will. if he wants to bring in a banjo, he will. if he wants to write autobiographically, hypothetically, or sarcastically, he will. call him conceited, but it makes for amazing lyrics and a pretty good listen (if you can stand his voice ;) )

wide awake is my fav. people say this a lot, but conor really is a genius and he adds an emotional quality to his music that lot of bands lack these days and he's always experimenting and i love that. noise floor was pretty good. i downloaded it because i had most of the tracks already but they weren't of great quality.
and about conor's drug use, he's seen smoking in a lot of pictures and has been drunk on stage and said some rude things, but i don't really know.

who in the music industry didn't/doesn't have a drug or alcohol problem? it's very prevalent and yeah, it's sad or whatever, but you can't judge music quality on the artist's bad choices in life. bright eyes has incredible music, if you're in that particular emotional state. it speaks to you sometimes! haha
