I've already decided I'm not gonna shell out anymore money for Dashboard.
I love them and they will always have a special place in my choice of music but I just dont see it happening anymore.
Their recording habits are one of the most interesting and respectable ways I've seen in any band, regardless of the type of music they play. They have always put out wonderful albums, but A Mark, A mission showed that they wanted to move from that Acoustic scene from which they were hailed so much. Plus, Having one of the best drummers in the punk scene, helps with that transition a little better.
But this album coming out just seems so fake and made up.
They went from letting you into their hearts and most deepest secrets, to another band just like the next.
As we all know people have their opinions and people are going to love this album, but I wont be one of them.
P.S. Maybe the Dashboard/Say Anything show will change my mind. Hopefully.

I agree. They lost all the emotion that was in the music when the band was added.

they shouldnt "go back to" being acoustic, but definatly keep relasing acoustic stuff on eps or whatever. i think mark, mission, brand, scar is their best album by far

So I'm the only one super excited for the album?
I'd like to point out: It's 10 songs, what other Dashboard albums have been 10 songs... that's right. Their best ones: Swiss Army Romance and Places.

yeah because new dashboard sounds like old further seems forever. almost exactly. I remember that the electric version of hands down syncs up with another FSF song.
i used to love this band.

Yes, CHRIS CARABBA, is awesome.
But no, I want him to do what he wants. I'll like it either way.
Okay I've heard the new album and I don't like it

Eh, I agree with the EP part. I do wish he'd release some like his old stuff that I love, but I'm excited for the new album. I don't think its 'fake', like someone said. Just because there's a full band, it doesn't mean Chris is pouring less of his heart into his new songs. I really think he spent a lot of time on this cd. I don't think AMAMABAS was their best-very good nonetheless, but I reallyyy adore The Places..
Though it seems like his new stuff is what's "in" right now, who knows, maybe he'll release an acoustic album one day. I'm just happy as long as they make music.

He did say that he will probably go back to playing solo one day, but for now wants to play with a band.
He's also said he loves doing solo shows and will do solo tours 2 - 3 times a year. :) However, he also said that sometimes when he's touring with a band he'll play solo and vice versa.

I think this statement is foolish. Saying "Dusk and Summer" And "The Moon is Down" are similar in anyways other than Caraba's involvement is a huge strech.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one disappointed with the new CD.. oh well, there are lots of other good CDs comming out this summer so I guess it's good timing for a band I love to have a shitty one.

I was talking about A Mission, A mark A whatever.
I synced up "hands down" and "snowbirds and townies"

i think it's good chris is trying to explore musicaly more, by incorporating a band. I agree his best stuff will probably always be what he does acousticly but i like it either way. I bet down the road even the songs he wrote with a band will end up being played acoustic live.

if he was doing what was "in" he would be screaming on dusk and summer.
and on the solo thing...at his show on friday, he did a handful of songs solo, but the older songs he did with full band sounded pretty good.

dude hands down was a remake from the so impossible E.P. from 2001, right around the time the moon is down came out.
personally i never got into "a mark.." i never gave it much of a chance. frankly i was pissed he was redoing hands down and trying to basically remake past albums. i was really impressed with dusk and summer- good to see him doing something at least a little different.

all this dashboard talk got be thinking of the rocking horse winner...i kinda miss that band.
when my world caves in
i'll find peace within
hearing your voice again
when songbirds sing
dashboard should stick to soft instruments and stay what its best at... on dusk and summer a lot of the songs are overplayed and a little too much electric guitar and drums are on them... the lyrics arent so much lacking because i love the songs dusk and summer and so long, so long, but more acoustic is his trademark... i hope the newest album out in october lives up to what i expect

even though this album was totally different and gave them some mainstream success, I still really enjoyed it, I didn't really care about how it made them big and all
