John Samson is my favorite songwriter. "Aside" has my favorite lyrics of all-time. Left And Leaving is my favorite album ever. I can't say enough good things about this band.

They need to:
1. Come to the west coast
2. release a new album
Reconstruction Site was brilliant, Left & Leaving is an excellent summer soundtrack.
When I name the few bands that truly influence my own songwriting, the Weakerthans is always on that list.

I love this band. Left and Leaving is such a great song (and album) as are Aside and Pamphleteer. The Reasons is such a cute little song too.
Because Bad Religion has been turning up the suck for the last few years.
Not really. They put out shit from like '94-'00. The Process of Belief was a great fucking album. The Empire Strikes First was great too.
Also, what does Bad Religion have to do with Greg Graffin's solo work? The two have virtually nothing in common. Graffin's solo stuff is mainly folk-rock, it isn't 'punk rock' in the general sense. It is great music, though.

Interesting:
On a related note - as of November 6th, G7 will no longer be offering for sale any Weakerthans albums currently in our catalogue (Fallow, Left & Leaving, or Watermark) in either physical or digital form, through any venue of sale. They will, however, be reborn instantly, crawling out of the cave and into the light, reissued in Canada on Epitaph.

I really love them as most of you. I saw them for the first time live at the end of last month here in Tempe, AZ, and, to tell you the truth, I didnt have a great time. Maybe it was the crowd, maybe it was just me, but maybe its just that this band is a very personal band whos songs mean different things to different people and it just doesnt make for the best live atmosphere. Anyways, I still love the band, just dont think i will see them live again.
I got some videos of the show if anyone cares to see them. Ive been lazy and havent uploaded them yet, but Im doing it right now, as I type.... So they should be up within the hour. Check out my youtube to see them. (videos will include "aside" and my personal favorite weakerthans song, "left and leaving" plus some others. Check it out)

Haha. Yeah, the high five was for those two songs. What volume do you have of Hopelessly Devoted...? I know there are two (of those) comps that have unreleased tracks by 'em that I really want.
One being Hopelessly Devoted To You Vol. 4, which has an acoustic version of "Past Due". And Hopelessly Devoted To You Vol. 3, which has "Confessions of A Futon Revolutionist (Country Style Version)".

True, usually if I come across a compilation and it's all songs from albums, then I usually just go buy the individual albums instead of the comp, but the ones with different versions of songs, I have to have, but apparently the Canadian version of help: a day in the life is better than ours, so now I want that! haha.

Slips and Tangles Demo Tape (1993) (http://www.mediafire.com/?6wmhetycomm)
This one is a bit lesser known than some of the other stuff uploaded. In 1993, John K Samson recorded a cassette demo while he was still with Propagandhi entitled Slips and Tangles. The cassette featured just John and an acoustic guitar singing little pop songs; this cassette gives an interesting look into his songwriting beginnings. Lyrically, these songs are not as dense or thought out as most Weakerthans material, but one can see similarities in subject matter and style as John's later work. The most interesting aspect of this tape, however, may be the early versions of a couple of Weakerthans tracks, namely "Illustrated Bible Stories for Children" (titled "Agonistes" here) and, of course, "Slips and Tangles", the final track of Left and Leaving.
