7-2. Swept Baltimore. Swept Pittsburgh. Could be 8-1 without a Brandon Stokley miracle in week 1.
Thoughts?

Still to early, though I'm all for a Bengals Saints super bowl

I'd call them a dark horse candidate, but they definitely have the weapons to make a run at it.

Dark horse for sure, I'd still go with Colts, then Patriots, and Bengals in there with the Chargers.

but i have to say it almost feels like an injustice for peyton manning not to be in the superbowl this year, securing his legacy with a second title. he is having the best statistical year of his career with the exception of 2004 where he set the single season QB rating record (and i'd argue he's more dangerous than he's ever been with the game on the line), and hes doing it in his first year without marvin harrison with two rookie receivers in his regular rotation of passes. 8 out of his 9 games have surpassed 300 yards passing, only two more and he'll tie the record. and, well, nothing even needs to be said about last night, gaining 3 unanswered touchdown drives in the 4th quarter against the patriots to win the game by a single point is one of the most phenomenal accomplishments of his career.
Who would've thought? I probably would've laughed at the idea a few weeks ago but good for them.

At the beginning of the season I looked at Minnesota's schedule and saw Cincy on there and wrote it off as an easy win. But after that Pittsburgh game, I don't know anymore. They're definitely looking good esp. their D. I don't think it would be too far off to call them superbowl contenders or at least a great playoff run.

I'd say the Bengals got a decent shot. Didn't Benson get a little banged up though?

I think the Bengals are going to be the surprise of the NFL like Arizona was last year. Hopefully if they do, in fact, make it to the Super Bowl, Mike Brown will get out of Cincinnati. :-)

I still can't believe how good they are this year, I wish i would have put money on this time win I guaranteed in August they would win at least 10 games and make the playoffs. Eventhough these guys roughed up my bears, they've been my favorite AFC team since 04.

Beat me to it.
But this train of thought is laughable. Sorry.

false. im not discounting the colts. they are a very very good team but of their 9 games only 2 of them have been against teams that would be in the playoffs if the season ended today. they've had a pretty lax schedule so i don't necessarily think you can say that they have the afc wrapped up. if belicheck doesn't make a bonehead call then you probably wouldn't be saying that the colts have the afc locked up.

Nah, I would be. It's the same reason why I don't blame Belichick's play call...it was a regular season game with no playoff implications for either team.
I think Peyton is far and away the best QB this year and I really think they have it. I know it's dumb to make predictions like that but I think they've got a better chance come playoff time than anyone.

i agree, i also believe the colts have it locked up....in the afc south only. last night was their first big test...they have the ravens and broncos who could give them a tough game, but i dont see the jets, texans, titans, or jags upsetting the colts unless they decided to rest everyone before the playoffs at the end of the regular season. peyton is having the best year of his career. and they are 9-0 with starters on both sides of the ball dropping left and right. bengals could give them a tough game in the playoffs but the colts have had the patriots "monkey" off their back for the past 3 season and have won 5 of the past 6 meetings between the two teams. last night's game was also for home field advantage in the playoffs so i wouldnt worry about peyton preparing to play in the cold weather. afc south definitely, afc possibly, it will be phenomenal if they made the superbowl with a new coach and new recievers and no harrison, secondary, run game, or vinateiri.

they could run into the steelers (defending champs), chargers (who play very well against them in the playoffs) and the pats (the team that took a miracle finish to beat them). we've seen the colts go 12-4, 13-3, 14-2 in the past and not even make the super bowl so i really think the afc is a toss up.

the colts have been are 5-1 over the last 6 meetings with the patriots. peyton has got the patriots monkey off his back for quite a while. although it would be a good matchup i think the steelers and chargers have a better chance of beating them in the playoffs than the pats do. chargers beat them last year as well as another year (can't remember, possibly the year after the colts won the superbowl), steelers beat them the year they won their 5th superbowl in 2005/2006. those two teams he hasn't beaten lately. patriots he can manage. it wasnt a miracle finish, it was just late execution.

We had a better chance of getting rid of him when the Bengals were losing. Unfortunately, when the Bengals do well with Brown in charge, there is no one clamoring for his head. Our only hope is that he gets fed up with the cost of keeping a winning team. Hopefully, if that happens he just leaves instead of cutting high cost players and putting us back in the hole.

the colts have yet to face a premier defense. injury is also hurting this team a bit they have been on the struggle each game. if indy or NE run into cincy or pitt, i do think they will lose.

forgot the bengals....i was just referring to teams they have previously played and lost to in the playoffs or played in a game that actually mattered. i cant remember the last time the bengals and colts played each other in a game that meant something. obviously the bengals would be a huge challenge for the colts

okay buddy, I was just making sure you do in fact talk out of your asshole, instead of with any type of information our actual thought backing what you say.
Cedric Benson is out for the season. So no I don't see them making it to the Super Bowl.

Really? I swore I heard that he was out for the season when I was listening to Sportscenter while getting for class. I didn't think it looked that serious when he got injured.

I must have heard wrong, also with them signing Larry Johnson I just kind of thought that it was a pretty serious injury.

Contenders? I guess, but I'd still pick a few teams just within the AFC ahead of them.

LJ is only going to be a liability he will be 4th string. Benson is expected to start Sunday. If he doesn't, Benard Scott will be getting the carries over Johnson.
Colts, Pats, and Steelers (all with plenty of playoff experience) will probably be in the playoffs and Cincy (if they make the playoffs) won't get through more than one of them. The Bengals can put the cherry on top of their Ravens/Steelers sweep with a win at Minnesota in Week 13.

The Bengals are legit this year but I don't see them stopping offenses like the Colts, Pats or Chargers in the playoffs and being able to keep up with them. But who knows. I don't see them as a SB contender really but they can win the division no question.
Also throw in the fact that the Bengals beat the Steelers both times when they were without Polamalu (still no excuse, but he plays a huge part on defense obviously). The Steelers offense got shut down so their D is damn good but I'm sure Polamalu would have made a huge difference on the other side.

Definitely.
there not the favorite but they are definitely a contender. Bengals-Saints Superbowl two losing franchises someone has to win.
