View Full Version : Worse QB: Alex Smith or Brady Quinn

Tim Lincecum
11/16/09, 08:56 PM
Tonight on MNF Steve Young said that the 49ers game to start the week and tonight's game were some of the worst football ever. Though the Bears QB Jay Cutler played horribly on Thursday, week in and week out Alex Smith struggles much more than Jay Cutler. But who is worse Smith or Quinn?

also its obvious that Russell is the worst in the league so I didn't bother with him.

I'd say Smith, he at least has some weapons in Gore, Crabtree, Bruce, Davis.

Quinn has Cribbs? I wouldn't even count Lewis.

And Quinn hasn't been given time at all to be THE GUY, they keep switching QBs

lol @ Crabtree and Bruce as weapons. Crabtree maybe eventually but come on.

Brady Quinn sucks, only because he has a terrible head coach. Manginni needs to put down the cheeseburgers and coach football. Atleast Smith has a decent coach, but he's still not good....but the worst qb in the league has to be JaMarcus Russell

Okay, you don't need to be a dick. Instead of offering any reasons why they aren't, you just say LOLZ.

Bruce is the most relevant WR of anyone between the two teams, correct?

Yeah.

Right now? Smith

But at least you have a little bit of hope with Quinn.

smith just because quinn has literally no one even decent to throw to and consistently has sooo little time to throw.

that being said, i am a browns fan. FML :( lol i do like DA over quinn because quinns max yardage on a pass is about 7 yards

Cutler being thrown in the same category as these two is ridiculous. I'd still take Cutler over half the quarterbacks in the league (or at least close to). I would say Quinn is worse. He doesn't have the weapons, but he has been horrendous.

None of these quarterbacks are the worst in the NFL.

JaMarcus Russel is...

Quinn needs more time, playing for Mangini and constantly changing QBs isn't all that great for a player's growth.

the question was only between Smith or Quinn...
Alex Smith is worse because Brady Quinn has only been in the league for a year

this. The two picks he threw last night would have been caught if he had better recievers.

Anyone see those two hail mary's towards the end last night? Quinn couldn't even throw them in bounds.

smith. quinn has no running game and no one to throw the ball too. on another team i think he has a shot

Ha, as long as that got mentioned
Anyone see those two hail mary's towards the end last night? Quinn couldn't even throw them in bounds.
Yeah...but Alex Smith's first year or two were pretty rough...like his first year where he had a 50% completion rate and a 1:11 TD to INT ratio. But in 06 and this season he's actually been decent..his completion percentage is way up (65%) and they are finally using him like they should...as sort of a Chad Pennington short throw type QB

11/17/09, 07:19 AM
Yeah unfortunately the correct answer is Russell, as someone already mentioned.

11/17/09, 07:38 AM
i feel bad for brady quinn....charlie weiss then eric mangini. send him to a good coach and he'll become a great quarterback. alex smith however was a first round draft pick and has been in the league for years and hasn't done a single thing. quinn is better he just needs a real chance to win

how is that being a dick? just because a receiver used to be good, does not mean he's good currently. the fact that you don't know that is lol-worthy. perhaps the 49ers could bring back Jerry Rice, or talk Chris Carter out of retirement. They were good once.

Do people on here know how to read? This is not a WORST QB poll, it's only b/t Quinn and Smith.

I'll have to go with Quinn I guess but I think he's just on a bad team/system and if he went to another team he'd be better.

Brady Quinn; They SHOULD be going with Derek Anderson, atleast he's played in a Pro Bowl before and can be good sometimes. His career completion record at Oregon St. is gonna get beaten this year.

Yeah because Anderson is SO much better. His one win came off two completions.A Pro Bowls means nothing, so what? he used to be good at one point in his career. He's worse than Brady Quinn by far. Derek Anderson has played more games and Brady Quinn still has more yards and less interceptions, which both numbers are pretty pathetic. Brady Quinn is not the entire problem with the Browns, first Eric Mangini needs to be fired, he's their biggest problem. If Brady Quinn had an offense he can throw to and a better offensive line, the Browns would not be so bad. Brady Quinn should be the one playing all year, Derek Anderson is has been, and Brady Quinn is a young QB who needs to keep getting experience.

Alex Smith: 79/122, 6 TDs, 6 INTs, 808 yards passing
Brady Quinn: 59/108, 1 TD, 5 INTs, 508 yards passing

Plus, Smith kind of looks like Ryan Gosling. This really isn't a contest.

You can't put all of that on him. The shitty play calling is on Eric Mangini.

yeah i definitely don't agree, he just doesn't have what it takes to be an nfl quarterback. did you see his attempts at hail marys last night? oof.

has anyone talked about whether quinn is just too muscular to play at the qb position? i don't remember any other qbs dependent on throwing having that muscular of arms.

11/17/09, 06:56 PM
Well what happens to an offense when you get rid of your best receiver and best tight end and lose your second best receiver?

Also, how is any quarterback going to progress AT ALL early in their career when they start one game and get benched the next.

hahahaha this. i endorse this statement. jamarcus is so bad. incredible athlete, but terrible decisions, and terrible accuracy. i dont think any team that isnt owned by al davis would have given him this much time in the starting position.

I read that on another website a few weeks ago. Quinn's arms are ripped, I can't think of another QB in the league like that.

Smith has more pressure being drafted 1st overall and having rodgers playing well.
Quinn never really got a fair chance, they kept switching between him and anderson he has the pressure of playing for his hometown team and the browns are terrible. They have no offense. their best weapon is their return man cribbs, they traded braylon edwards and mangini has no idea what he is doing.

But the correct answer is JaMarcus Russell. I don't think he has any idea where the ball is going when he throws it.
His attitude may be worse than his play. He is always blaming those around him rather than taking the blame himself.
I know the raiders are awful and heyward-bey cant catch but 2 TD's and nine picks and a sub 50 percent completion percentage
