i only saw a few of these, so i did some searching on google. chose the ones i thought were most popular. there's always the "other" option, of course.

Stand By Me is definitely the best out of the choices listed.

One of the best coming-of-age tales.

considered it, thought it was more of a cross-genre, like sci-fi kind of thing. but there is an other option, which i assume you voted for.

This is a good poll. Had to go with Stand By Me I adore that movie. The Outsider's book is better than the movie (as our most). Never seen Say Anything though should probably check that out.

the movie was a decent adaption. not much of a disappointment, if you ask me. i mean, for example, reading coraline and then going to see the movie, that's a disappointment. but with the outsiders, i was pleased with what they did, even though the book is definitely better.

say anything got my vote, but i haven't seen most of these.

Out of these I had it narrowed down to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "The Outsiders". Decided to go with "The Outsiders" though, partially because I had a feeling that it wouldn't receive nearly as much love as it deserves.

Ferris Bueller is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Your avatar just reminded me of another film that could easily be on this list..."Risky Business". Oh Tom Cruise, you were such a bad-ass before you lost your mind.

As you said yourself, most books are at least a little bit better than their counterparts of the silver screen, but "The Outsiders" the movie was very well done and a great interpretation of the book. Books have the clear advantage of being able to take much longer than approximately 2 hours to get through.

Apparently most people have not seen Fast Times, otherwise it'd be winning...:shake:

"Fast Times..." is a great movie, but it just barely falls short compared to some of the others on this list in my opinion. Not necessarily in objective quality, but as far as my own favoritism goes.

congrats on actually growing up in the 80s. to the rest of us, this is like watching stuff from the previous generation. i don't think teens of the 90s really had anything good to go on, except maybe dazed and confused.

IMO the ultimate teen movie of the 90s was Empire Records. But there was Can't Hardly Wait, Clueless, 10 Things I Hate About You and Crybaby.

Seems like the 90s were a little more seious than the 80s. maybe that is why I like the 80s more.

this shouldnt be close......oh damn....

Breakfast club. Out of all these movies, its the one movie that really captures the essence of being a teenager, especially being a teenager in the 80s, the best. It doesn't only concentrate on the obvious stereotypes of high school, but it embraces the emotion that comes with all of them. Ferris Buehler is a nice movie, a definite all-time classic in itself...but its really just a feel good movie. Cameron is a great character though. What I notice in both these movies is that the concept of "parents lack of" support or involvement in the childs life is a big issue in 80s teenage life. Sure it's an on-going thing in today's society too, but the money obsessed working father or the dad who puts pressure on a kid, seems to be really prevelant in the 80s. Plus, for Breakfast Club you had THE TEENAGERS of the 80s so, it helps.

1)Breakfast club
2)Ferris Buehler
3)Sixteen Candles

Stand By me...although a GREAT GREAT GREAT movie, isnt about the 80s..which is what I'm really looking for in this poll.

I would take quite a few of those films over the ones in the poll, but most of those aren't really what I would consider teen movies. While they may appeal to teens, I think the aim of this poll was to focus on movies that deal directly with the typical coming of age teenage story in some way or another.

i personally haven't watched it, but i didn't really think of it as a teenage coming-of-age themed movie like the rest. notice i also left out the princess bride, which is one of my most favorite movies of all time.

but of course, i did have an "other" option, but i'm glad the outsiders is getting votes, even though i voted for say anything,
