Pebaluna - Acoustic EP
Record Label: MDB Records
I hate to start off expositions with cliches, but here it goes. "Its not everyday," you hear someone sing about penguins. An album with a song about penguins? What could be better?
You probably haven't heard of Lauren Coleman, but I wouldn't be surprised if you hear more of her in the future. A name that you maybe familiar with is, Matt Embree (of RX Bandits) joins Lauren in this six song EP to write catchy love songs. Embree blends his years of musicianship with Lauren's upbeat jazzy voice. Embree's voice being a background vocal compliments Coleman's harmonious stylings. Nearly every song on this EP is sure to find you whistling, humming, tapping, or singing along. Sure some of the lyrics on the album are a bit simplistic at times, but with the lighthearted nature of the songs, that is to be expected.
Timeshare Romance, the lead track, sounds a bit like a country tune (very light), but don't be discouraged if you are not a fan of the genre at all; even though I loathe the genre, there is something Coleman infuses that makes it just work. It's a song about flings and not taking romance too seriously, but rather being in the moment and living your life the way you want to.
When listening to "Tickle Train," the second song off the EP, it makes you want to walk outside in the sun and just hug everyone. The EP is just a sampler of things to come, and since it's acoustic, there is a more raw and organic experience with how the duo craft their music. The latest EP is a different from the previous works of the duo. Lauren Coleman's voice is truly a thing to marvel.
Being Happy, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, Tracy Bonham
