I will be interviewing Cursive (http://www.cursivearmy.com/) soon in celebration of their new album "Happy Hollow" that comes out August 22nd on Saddle Creek Records (http://www.saddle-creek.com). Leave any questions you might have for the band in the replies and I will do my best to get them all answered.

Haha, I'll bet. I am, but of course I couldn't resist. Such a great album though.
-How do you feel the horns turned out within the overall Cursive sound? I think it's absolutely great.
-How do you see fans responding to the lack of Greta and obviously the strings?

We see Conor Oberst outspokenly taking on a lot of problems within the music industry ie Clear Channel, major labels. As a career independent artist, are there any issues that you feel strongly about within the music industry and, if so, why do you choose to avoid speaking out about them publicly?
Why do you think the currently more popular underground music scene has become so watered down with generic sing-scream bands and derivative lofi semi-dancey music?
It leaked?! When? Where? there -->

i don't care what you ask. i'm just pissed there's no more cello. horns don't even come close to cello. might be why i'm disappointed with most of happy hollow.

How do they feel about AP.net user "helikopter" being such a fucking douche?
How does it feel that a lot of idiots out there immediately associate this band with the cello, when they had a bunch of other material before Ugly Organ that was fucking awesome as well?
It has been rumored that they will be/ are collaborating with Thursday, Converge, and Blood Brothers on a track that was supposed to be on Thursday's new album. What's the news on that song? Will we ever hear it? What was their part in writing for it?

will Tim actually change his name to Drift Wood, or was it just in the song?
How does he make his nose grow?
OK, seriously tho....
Will they actually get horns peeps as part of the band, or is it just gonna b random ppl in the live shows?

cliche question, but i'd like to know what kind of mindset tim was in when writing the lyrics for the new album. inspirations, motivations, etc... same question could go musically for the rest of the band.

not really a question, more a demand and plea.
aaaaaaaand ask Tim about the writing process for his lyrics. as well as the Good Life.

do you like any pop stuff?
how did you arrive at the particular guitar sound you did?

are you pissed that 'happy hollow' leaked?
Me, no I love how I bust my ass and work with my friends for years touring, writing and "the what not" just to see one of my two bands to break even or worse. And when my turd ass label gets my new shit leaked (thanks ya cry baby drunk, thats why we dont work on shit with you) it makes me feel a little like when some trendy shit ask me about the cello and "What happen UO was SOOO GOOD" I look at him and go, blow me! Don't buy my shit then, just down load it for free(it leaked ya know)! And then don't bitch cuz its free and laced with horns!
Other than that im sure that they thought of it as it was kind of a "downer" that it leaked. But you gotta hear it! its so good!

i know it was track 5 on thursdays demos that leaked a long time ago. so im guessing thursday wrote it, but i would like to know as well what is going on with this.
it's obvious religion is a big part of this new record, what inspired you to write an entire concept album around religion?

as a fan of pretty much everything cursive (and tim kasher in general) does, i did download the new album, and i think it's one of the most progressive, mind-expanding, amazing fucking things i've ever heard. for real. it blew me away from the very beginning. the horns sound nothing, nothing like you'd expect horns to sound...i honestly did not miss the cello at all, the new album is that fucking good. and the great thing is, they didnt' try to remake the ugly organ, with the exception of bad sects which sounds a little 'cursive like', everything is just amazing and completely new ground. i will be buying this album on cd and vinyl as soon as it is released. fucking job well, well, amazingly perfectly well done.

nice try being elite, dudes. i've been into cursive and i like their old stuff well. but ugly organ was a masterpiece. by far their defining work. i'm glad you all can keep the discussion at a mature level by... calling me a "fucking douche" and "agreeing x3809r8235r" or whatever. is it possible for anyone here to discuss how a band MIGHT NOT BE AMAZING without getting flamed? sorry i feel as though a cello did more for the mood and overall tone of the songs than the horns, i can't believe i'd be so irrational and think for myself.
i'm not asking for another ugly organ. all i want is a great record. maybe i haven't listened to happy hollow enough, but it hasn't lived up to my expectations yet.
guess that makes me a douche. for you know, having a contrasting opinion. god, what a douche i am.
here, i can make up for it. [insert 300 words essentially fellating tim kasher]

wow, seriously. way to get fired up about a message board comment, douchebag.
i agree about the cello, it set a great tone, however, it overtoned cursive. people began to see cursive as the cello, and cursive is much more than that. it really bothers me when people don't see that. look at the single from ugly organ, "art is hard," it's pretty much all about how fucked society is for wanting him to play depressing music, as if we're watching a man cut off his skin on stage. now compare that to an older song, and you'll see the content surpassed the ugly organ. as talented and great gretta was she got in the way, half of the songs on this record would be ridiculous with a cello. they got their point across with that album, now it's time to move on.
cursive has remained the same yet thrown different elements with each album.
for a while their extra element they threw in was the cello, now it is horns.
if you only liked cursive with cello, you never really liked cursive.
-an elite dude.
