I thought the movie was okay, I imagine it'd be better on stage.

I loved it on stage...but the audience reacting makes it, plays without the audiences usually aren't that good on film
uh oh smmoreo

It's a shitty excuse for a Broadway musical, seriously. I can't see how so many people love it. Weak story, weak songs. Go see Wicked or Les Mis or Jekyll and Hyde.

Seen the play three or four times, and own the movie. I love it.

Basically, the idea was if you liked the musical, you liked the movie, and vice versa. If you were in between, more often than not, you disliked the movie...from what I've seen in reviews

I think it's amazing that someone would even think about comparing Wicked to Rent. Wicked is a shiny, blockbuster musical. Rent, on the other hand, came from someone who lived (and died, I suppose) for the musical. It was everything to him, and that shows in the play. It is emotional, passionate, and moving. I'm not really sure I could say anything like that about Wicked, but I could say "Wow, they sure spent a lot of money on costumes and staging." Then again, I hated that musical, so it's only fair that I'm allowed to hate Wicked and you can hate Rent.
I hated most of the music for it but I thought the story wasn't too bad.
I'm more of a The Producers person myself.
a decent melody

It's not a bad adaptation, but I much prefer seeing the musical itself.
