pedro the lion - i've listened to his cds quite a few times through over the past week. such a great, simple lyricist.
frankie valli and the four seasons - "grease" (you know, "grease is the word...") is one of my current favorite songs.
the cadence - someone rec'd them last week, so i'll do it this week. i don't really have a choice, i have to like them. really. it's a good thing they're a damn good band. new drummer, first show back this friday. it'll be good.
why? - my friend turned me on to them. i still haven't heard much, but i like it. they're on anticon; need i say more?
saturday looks good to me - 60s pop-inspired music. they have a cd called "all your summer songs." now, don't you think it's appropriate?

forgive durden - wonderland
i have two playlists i've been going back and forth between on my ipod this past week. that's one. fun stuff. the other is better for bedtime and consists of death cab (transatlanticism, plans, & we have the facts), the city on film, sufjan stevens (illinois), margot & the nuclear so and sos, josh ritter (the animal years), owen, and the elected.

umm its amazing...you don't even understand how amazing it is. holy eff....video of the year probably.
hype/
This will probably be said many many many times, but my rec is the new AFI... more than once. It wasn;t an instant hit for me, but after 2-3-4 listens, it began to grow on me, and by now, its one ofmy favorites.

I recommend The Lovely Feathers (check them out here (http://www.thelovelyfeathers.com/))
Amazing indie/pop/post punk.
I also recommend The Spinto Band (http://www.spintoband.com/) for some lovely summery indie.
And Oh No Oh My (http://www.myspace.com/ohnoohmyband). More great indie pop.
I hope you enjoy them.

The Ataris - End Is Forver is one of the best records ever in my opinion.
Love Arcade - Happy, crazy, mad, sing-along Summer music.
Taking Back Sunday - I love all of their records. It gets a lot of shit on this site, but Louder Now is fantastic and I listen to it regularly.
No Doubt - Their cover of "Come On Eileen" is one of the perfect Summer songs. Listen to it.
Duke Special - I recommended him last week and I'll do it again. Extremely beautiful, antique music for the apathetic and broken hearted.
Jawbreaker - Possibly my favourite musicians. Everything they released is genius. Start with 24 Hour Revenge Therapy.
And just listen to great Summer music that makes you happy. Peace.

Keane (http://www.myspace.com/keane) - People should probably know of Keane by now cause they have had a kind of hit single here in the US and are big in the UK. If for some reason you don't know Keane, they are like Coldplay Jr. The new album is great and hits stores June 20th.
Sleeping At Last (http://www.myspace.com/sleepingatlast) - Another mellow recommendation. I am pretty sure these guys have been recommended a few times back, but I haven't seen any posts about their upcoming album. Whatever major label they were on completely dropped the ball and now they are independently releasing their latest album on June 20th (though it's being shipped already)
Paulson (http://www.myspace.com/paulson) - Their 2005 release went under the radar which is a shame cause it's a damn solid album. Check them out if you like Circa Survive or any of this new spacey rock stuff.
Inventions (http://www.myspace.com/inventions) - Space rock meets post hardcore. Kind of reminds me of older Thursday meets The Mars Volta.
Two Brick, NJ bands in the rec's!
Easton
Boys Night Out - Trainwreck START TO FINISH
Eisley
.... nobody cares I give up.

I don't know why they aren't as big. They deserve it so much. I've only seen them live once but they were really, really good and are cool guys as well. More people need to get into midtown. I like them more than Brand New. alot more. (and I like BN a good amount).
thats a terrible thing to say, i've had such a bad throat this past week and the medicine isn't working and i'm not improving at all. so you should take that back meet me behind pizza express and we could settle it over fisticuffs.
