live would probably be great, but the album isn't good.

I saw that it was John Paul Jones and Dave Grohl so I kind of felt obligated to pick up "mind eraser, no chaser" when it was free on itunes and i remember being pretty amused but im not really compelled to listen to anymore of the album. I'd like to know if it gets interesting though.

I thought the album was solid. Definitely new and vintage sounds throughout the album. A good listen.

If you like this mate, make sure you check out the Arctic Monkey's newest one. Josh Homme produced half the record .

Totally. I'm not a huge fan of an album that you like, must be because I'm young and stupid.

sorry bud, i didn't mean to come across harsh. tomatos / tomatoes as always.

i just pictured the possible scan of the album that one might have done, and remembered that we are in the iTunes age. i just think Humbug is a brilliant record.

I didn't "scan" the album. I've given it a good 15 listens.

One can only hope. A new OotSA record would be the shit! I listened to Era Vulgaris yesterday for the first time in quite awhile, its so great.

Good for you mate, i never accused you of just "SCANNING" the album.

15 listens then, well how 'bout it. Hope you did the right thing and bought the record .....

I think the album is incredible. It reminds me a lot of QOTSA, specifically Songs For The Deaf, but it's different enough to be good in it's own right. Josh and Dave are great together and JPJ is an incredible bass player. I feel like Dave plays better when he's with Josh. Maybe it's just the style of music but SFTD and TCV are his best drumming efforts IMO. Absolutely fantastic.

I absolutely bought the record. I don't illegally download music. If it's not worth paying for, it's not worh listening to.

it just sounds like a bland, QOTSA b side album.

i like QOTSA a decent amount, foo fighters are okay, and LZ... duh.

but idk, the songs don't stick out. it felt like listening to one long boring song. it just didn't flow well, and nothing stood out.

I have to listen to Era Vulgaris again. it had a handful of good songs but I thought it was kinda boring. Lullabyes to Paralyze on the other hand...sooooooo good

Songs for the Deaf is my personal QOTSA fave, while we're on the subject.

Anyways, I was so hyped for this album...but it's mostly a Josh Homme project, which hey, AWESOME. But I was hoping for some nirvana/foo influence and Led motherfucking Zeppelin. Pretty good stuff but I mean...just not the clusterfuck of amazing I was hoping for.

i think its an outstanding album. i had unreal expectations, as a fan of each musician. at first i didn't know what to make of it, and almost considered it a let down. now i love it though. the musicality aspect is a 10/10 (which was kind of to be expected), and it has some very pop sensible moments, which i did not expect (i.e. hooks). hell, even josh's lyrics were surprisingly good in some points. i definitely like it best from caligulove on, when it begins to sound like more of a progressive record. bandoliers and spinning in daffodils are my two favorites, the latter being an absolutely epic closer.

the rhythm section throughout is absolutely fantastic.

You think he's bad normally? I haven't looked into QOSTA's lyrics too much, but songs like I'm Designer have impressed me.

no. it's just a lot of times in side projects, i feel like the lyrics are of less importance to the band. like two tongues, (+44). that may just be because those bands aren't very good, though.
