if you like free music - and haven't done so yet - then check out quote unquote records (http://www.quoteunquoterecords.com/). they have a lot of rad stuff there. some of it punk-ish and some of it not really. but it rules!

I loved All In, but the jump from that to this blew me away. Granted, we're still talking about straight-forward pop-punk here...It's a ridiculously great record! Plenty of diversity in the tracks, and I'm digging the vocal switch-ups here and there.
Have you heard the One For The Road seven-inch?

For Bad Religion, if you don't have any of their albums, they have a compilation record called 80-85 out and it has a lot of great songs from their earlier records. Definitely a good starting point if you're a newcomer to them. If you've heard some of their stuff, then I'd start with No Control, then move on to Suffer, then Against The Grain, then you're on your own, haha.

well, it's not that i still don't enjoy SC, it's just i feel the back half is a little lack luster.
I gotcha. I'd agree so long as "back half" means anything from "The Funeral Procession" onward. (Barring "The Banger's Embrace", which I fucking love haha). The last track on the album is definitely epic but sometimes I just don't feel like listening to it for some reason. I dunno. So I know where you're coming from I guess.

One punk album from over these shores that I really enjoyed this year was by a band called The Cut Ups, saw them support Polar Bear Club at the begining of the year & they were awesome
RIYL - Billy Bragg style vocals played along to more mordern styled punk rock ala HWM (yes I'm rubbish with descriptions)

I think it's funny that her record label tried promoting her to college radio prior to MTV and such. I remember getting to college in the fall of 2002, digging through the music at the radio station, and stumbling across the "Sk8er Boi" promotional E.P. When I gave the Music Director a puzzled look, I was informed that she was pushed to the station as an "underground singer-songwriter" with "punk influences."
I mean, it's common practice for labels to start with college radio but geez...

mail days rock. today i got the new Nofx 7" singles, john samson's new 7" single, some records from No Idea.
worn in red's album in the offing sounds so rad. same goes for that american cheeseburger/religious as fuck (two of the best band names ever) as fuck split LP. and the ergs!/the measure [sa] split. and the brokedowns/the copryrights' split 7". haha.
my ears got punked today.
Hopefully that means my NOFX singles are on their way as well! Along with the Fat Wrecktrospective!
As for American Cheeseburger? I've never heard them, but I am happy they exist. When I was in college, American Nightmare changed their name to American Nothing...But my friend announced on-air during his radio show that it was American Cheeseburger. People believed it. It was awesome.

hahah. i forgot AN were calling themselves American Nothing for a while. they could've called themselves american cheeseburger. oh well. they missed out!

glad you're digging 'em, man. atlanta has one of the best underground indie/punk/noise/whatever you want to call it scenes in the country right now imo. a bunch of these bands are playing the 529 bar on new years, so stoked.
