not after their last album. i thought fake sound of progress and Start Something were awesome, but the way their sound is progressing, its just not as good as it used to be. ill give it a listen, but i doubt ill be too highly impressed.

There's a video up on youtube of a song they did live on the radio. I'd get the link up myself but I'm at school. Search 'Destroyer Lostprophets' and it should come up. Heavy stuff and would probably restore most peoples faith sounds like TFSOP mixed with start something.

i think last train home and rooftops were the only songs i liked from this band
Dstryr reminds me of Muse meets Billy Talent, and the single isn't that bad, sick bridge breakdown.
Still, this album will have to be amazing... The album cover is terrible.

You can't have listened to much from them then...
Start Something was an awesome album at the time, as was thefakesoundofprogress. then they got incredibly shit with the 3rd album. I was going to give this the benefit, but fuck it, that single was dreadful. I'm not gonna listen to this.
I am.
Why?
Next Stop Atrocity is a good song. Seen em play it live twice.
Just heard destroyer and it's not that good, hopefully a studio version will be better.
I'm half and half on this album at the moment, I'm seeing them in February so I fucking hope its good.

I'm probably buy this. Their last album was poppy, not as good as FSOP or LTH but decent.

First two albums were fantastic, two of my favorites. Last one had about 1 good song and 3 decent ones. I hate the new single. I'm sure this new album will have a few solid tracks on it but I'm not expecting much.
P.S. Is that really the album art? Really? That might be the worst album art of this year or even the decade.

That album art is terrible.
The new single was pretty bad, hopefully this one will be better.

That is some horrible cover art.

Terrible album art, but still looking forward to this. Liberation Transmition wasn't as bad as every made it out to be, in fact I loved it. Let's hope...

same. I'm actually surprised though at how many people DON'T like this band. I don't know why, but i assumed they were more popular.

They went downhill after The Fake Sound Of Progress, which is a great album.
Actually, Start Something was awesome when I was 14.

Ian Watkins says this is the incorrect album art.
& here's a track-by-track review of the album:

I loved FSOP and Start Something. Even though I only love one or two songs on Liberation Transmission, it's not going to stop me from giving the new one a chance.
Plus, Atro City sounds pretty good.

1. It isn't the actual album art.
2. I don't understand the mass amounts of people saying "FSOP and Start Something were amazing, LT suckszzzzz" when LT has more or less, the same sound as SS with just a few more pop songs. Everyday Combat is just as heavy as anything on Start Something and Goodbye Tonight is just as poppy as anything on Liberation.

But the thing is. Everyday Combat is a boring song, and Goodbye Tonight is awesome.

No way am I going to get this after Liberation Transmission. I really liked Start Something, but after that they seemed to go downhill. But this thread has made me want to listen to The Fake Sound of Progress since I have yet to hear it.

when you say more or less, there should be a HUGE emphasis on less.
any and all heaviness/breakdowns were pretty much gone on Liberation Transmission. the transition they started with Start Something continued, and it wasnt a pleasant one. "Broken Hearts, Torn Up Letters" sounded like an All-American Rejects B-side. they just werent nearly as fun.

I hate the new single. I mean it's catchy enough, but it's just a tired retread. I remember when I used to love this band too

I would rank their albums like this: Liberation Transmission > Start Something > The Betrayed > The Fake Sound Of Progress
I think that Liberation Transmission was their most ambitious album, it definitely shows in the quality of the songs. Every single song on that album is great, unlike their other 3 albums which have the occasional filler track. I'm still not understanding why Liberation Transmission gets so much hate. Okay, it's a bit poppier than their previous albums but they were never that heavy anyway. It was disappointing for me to see them pretty much remake Start Something but name it The Betrayed in their most recent album. They should have continued with what they started on Liberation Transmission.

With the new album coming out I thought I'd dig out the official thread for some chat. Seen a few people on the news page looking forward to it so would be good to have some discussion on here.
I received the new album yesterday and I'm at my third spin today. Any thoughts yet? I'm getting a little bit of a "Start something"-feel when I listen to it. I like that. Couple more spins necessary though.

Because people like them "heavy" - totally missing the point that they set out to do an emo-pop record and make it as catchy and angsty as possible - which they achieved brilliantly.
I've only got through to listening to the first 6 tracks of Weapons so far as Amazon fucked my order up but so far I'm impressed. "Arsenal" is one of the best songs they've ever done, and "Another Shot" and "Jesus" are solid as well. The two after that haven't quite got my attention yet and I never really liked "Better Off Dead". But so far I'm impressed.
For me it's: Start Something > Liberation Transmission >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fake Sound > Betrayed.
Their 2nd and 3rd albums will definitely be remembered for a long time after they've gone.
Listening to LostProphets' "Para todas las putas celosas" right now, pretty damn funny stuff. "The Fake Sound Of Progress" was (still is) an awesome album when it came out. A lot of shit was released back then, "TFSOP" definitely stood out.

they were definitely my favorite band when Start Something came out, but since then they haven't released an album quite like SS. that doesn't mean I dislike them or anything, because all bands change over time...but none of the other albums have had a long lasting appeal to me like SS. I thought The Betrayed was much better than LT because it's a deeper album. especially the last three tracks...light that burns twice as bright is my favorite on that album.
I haven't listened to Weapons all the way through, but I like the SS vibe that another shot has. It could easily have been taken from that album.
