I would sign them even though they are from one of my least favorite cities on Earth. They're like Mates of State except there is some electronics in it, and I assume they don't sing love songs to one another. It's good music though, especially for the summer.

They are on a little label, so maybe this disqualifies them

Since i get to play A&R every day, I'm gonna pick a couple of bands i WISHED i signed:

Muse
My Chemical Romance
Nightmare of You

What's funny is that i was actually thinking about writing a post on my blog about what my strategy would be if i was A&R'ing the Muse album. They're going with a very odd first single, and i think that's amazing... but for single two... ooh, what to do is exciting!!!

alright of this stuff is so bland.

i agree with the other guy, how is it that NO ONE has said Envy On The Coast? holy shit, what a band. they will be signed very very soon, undoubtedly.

and also a new band from NJ, Inamere. the drummer and singer hosted Fuse's Spring Broke 06, and are now about to put out their full length THEMSELVES with Joe Gastwirt (The Used, Story Of The Year) mastering the record.

take a listen, the singer is amazing, one of my favorites. these guys are my buddys, and definately work fuckin way hard, and write really really insanely catchy songs.

if i were to sign a band from an indie, hnds down, no question it would be Lorene Drive in a heartbeat. those guys deserve to be HUGE.

ELEVATION - www.myspace.com/elevation (http://www.myspace.com/elevation)

This band is absolutely tits. By the looks of their pics it looks like something Tooth & Nail would do.

But this band is more major label than anything. They could easily blow up on the radio.

Wow I just checked this band out and you are right. They sound GREAT. They can go far on the singer's voice and just the overall vibe of the music and everything. I get what you mean by the pictures being Tooth and Nail-ish, but you're right about this band having major label written all over it.

They should sign an EP/1 CD deal with The Militia Group just to get their name in the "indie" world then sign to somebody like Warner Brothers. They could blow up so big so fast it's not even funny. And all this enthusiasm after hearing ONE SONG. Shit.

Originality is harder and harder to come by these days. Quite frankly, I'm tired of being recommended to listen to the same type of "post-rock" crap. The good stuff - at least good in the sense of what it sounds like you are looking for, as am I - is out there though, but (biting my tongue here) you're more likely to find it on Pitchfork than AP. Unfortuneately, "punk", like sex, sells - it has a built in audience: angsty teenagers and MySpace whores.
