Can't believe there wasn't a thread for this already (unless I just missed it/the search function isn't working).
Anyway, for the most part, I've grown really tired of the empowering, hopeful sports drama -- and I normally find Sandra Bullock quite annoying -- but this has me intrigued.
I'm not expecting anything more than your typical, Hollywood feel-good, pick-me-up fluff but hopefully it's good.

I'm sure it's not the worst movie but it looks like it would be pretty bad. Harmless movie I guess.
Maybe a rental...

It is actually a good movie...I'm not sure what's up with all the hate. It leaves you thinking. However, the audience I saw it with sucked...Four different peoples' cell phones went off during the course of the movie.

I thought it was weird that they started promoting the movie by touting Sandra Bullock's performance as "Oscar worthy." Thought it looked kind of cheesy.

sandra bullock's oscar worthy performance as the stereotypical soccer mom, even though it's not soccer, it's football, but still.
movie might genuinely be touching, i'll admit, but it's got nothing intriguing enough for me to want to see it.
Thought the trailer's have looked cheesy/terrible.
Shame, cause the actual story about Michael Oher is pretty great.

EW had her a "long shot" for an oscar nom. I couldn't believe that.

It's not as bad as you'd think really. There were only a couple cringe worthy moments but overall, not bad.
The true story aspect just makes it awesome.
I got dragged to this, it was alright I guess.

Awesome, awesome movie. I would highly recommend going and seeing this (yes, it's even worth paying to see it in the theaters). I was skeptical going into it, didn't really think it would be very good, but I can say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely my favorite empowering, hopeful sports movie.

To rural people around here, it would be touted as "oscar worthy".
edit: And now from seeing other posts in here, it might not be as bad as I thought. I have a soft spot for empowering sports movies. Radio is a guilty pleasure. Also little interesting fact to throw in, my friend is an extra in a couple of scenes and said Tim McGraw's daughter and Phil Collin's daughter were extras in the scenes she was in.

I don't love it. It's nothing terrible, but it's not great either. Completely average movie. I'm still amazed that it got nominated for BP.

The other day I was thinking about Bullock's performance in this and came up with the conclusion that she might have deserved winning Best Actress. Though it was nothing different from what we expect out of an actress playing a southern mom, it was a complete 180 for an actress that stays mainly close to comedic roles. Just a thought.

But should an actress's reputation really play a role in her winning an Oscar? Shouldn't she receive the reward for delivering an amazing performance, not taking on a role that's not typical of her and doing an average job? I'm not saying her performance was average; I've never seen the movie. But just sayin'.

Well to really clarify myself, she played the part of a southern football mom perfectly, but it has kinda been done before. Probably not in a leading role, but it has been done before. But on the reputation thing, and we were going to go with amazing performances, I don't know if she would have won. But if this also went to the whole rest of the categories, I don't know if Jeff Bridges would have won. Jeff Bridges did do a fantastic job, but the story was plain and nothing extraordinary. If this was going to the true top performance, I honestly think Colin Firth should have won. He played a gay man who, in fact, wasn't as gay as much as he was a true lover who's love didn't know sex. My God if he didn't play that part to the fucking T, but Jeff Bridges won the award because it was time he be recognized, and I also don't think there was anything wrong with that

Politics has been a part of the Oscars since at least 1941 when Citizen Kane was booed everytime it was mentioned since William Randolph Hearst was one of the richest men in the country, not right or wrong just how it is
She did well, I think it's impossible to separate someone's filmography from their performance, and not feel like besides 28 days and Crash she's never really gotten a chance to show her dramatic chops
Anyway enjoyable film, cliche at times, and some dialogue was awful, I also thought Quinton showed promise even though his character didn't have much range

How do you know she did an average job if you haven't even seen the movie...? That doesn't make much sense.
I don't see how anyone else could or would have played her part better. She did a fine job.
i watched this after the awards show last week and loved it for what it was. i think Sandra did a great job and definitely deserved the "best actress in a leading role" for her performance. i don't think it was necessarily a ground breaking movie by any means, but her performance shined all the way through. it was an overall "feel good" movie.

Watched this last night. I am amazed at how mediocre it was. There was really nothing special about it. I can enjoy a good popcorn flick from time to time, but this just fell flat for me. Boring.

Ultimately, a terrible film with some extremely obvious racist undercurrents. Also, not deserving of an Oscar for Bullock's role. I don't think she did anything particularly complicated/remarkable - as opposed to, say Carey Mulligan, or Gabourey Sidibe, who for me would've been much more deserving of the accolade.
