This is a poem I had to do for an English assignment, it's free verse and I'm not sure how good it is so I was wondering if the good folk of AP could help a brother out.

Long Distance

I pick up the phone and put it down again. You’ve been gone for three months, but I’m still not sure if I should call.

I step outside, into the heat and the sun and look at my shoes, the one tangible thing I have left to connect me to you. I walk for a while, thankful for the sun, thankful for the rain.
I try calling again, and this time it’s easier. I’m almost about to dial the last number when I put the phone down again, step outside again. I wonder how your voice sounds now, not that it’s been too long. It’s raining now, the cold drops hitting my face, and I am thankful still.

I pick up the phone again, and call for the first time. I have realised the good is the bad, and the bad is the good, the call will end. It will be the same as before, with the rain, and the sun, and the shoes.
