these are 3 from a split i'm doing with one of my favorite bands in the world.
hopefully they don't suck too bad.

Yellow opera – tail concerto

I don’t know where she gets the money to keep running form her home and torrid past.
Her past of violence and her home in Texas where the preachers and mayors are most corrupt; where every man is a drunken rapist and every woman a drunken victim.

The holly evergreens shaded by water towers and oil wells.
Let her keep running and never come back to cheap wine and drunken nights in her old town.
She’d kiss me while I brushed her cheek with my hand, but she’d turn away while I tried to do the same.
My former bride keeps running and I hope she never comes back.

Burned and calloused hands from work in an old restaurant, she’d come home tired and I’d take her clothes off.

She wears freckles like a tiara

Apartment out by the horse track - the sound of the announcer can be heard with a window view of an old boxcar where red weeds grow up the back.

Her skin exposed with our clothes in the backseat.
I notice freckles that weren’t there before.
Flesh colored young lovers for the first time.

Her skin is a fire that keeps me warm and guides me through the night. We were young lovers once. Flesh colored young lovers for the first time.

The salt of her skin burned the raw surface of my bottom lip but she tasted so good. It shivered through my bones.
When she arched her back, all I could hear were her shouts and laughs.
And we are flesh colored young lovers.

When she arched her back, all I heard were her shouts and laughs. My hand on the bottom of her ribs…

Blue bonnets of Easter

With a nervous crooked smile and a smooth complexion.
Ice cold stares; our cardigans buttoned.
Blue flowers strategically placed along dead yellow hills, so bland it drains the color from under my skin.

We took break in the fields and a bottle of wine that we both plucked straight from the vine.
We laughed a little and danced just a bit like the kite she held with a fist...
A breeze rushed up; it gained strength...

She blew so far - a half a world away.
The little makeshift kite took her a country up and a little over to the right.
With a gust and a change in season…

...she dropped down. God swept her away to a place he knew i couldn't travel.
He gave me a dime for every lonely year i'll spend alone, leaving me with 15 cents.

We laughed a little and danced just a bit like the kite she held with a fist...
A breeze rushed up; it gained strength...
...God took her away

Maintenant elle respire les nuages. (french for: "she breathes the clouds now")
