View Full Version : Good pricing on XLR cables?

I need to replace some XLR cables in my faux studio. I've never bought them -- the 5 or 6 I'm replacing were either gifts (now frayed/dead) or loaned.

What's a good deal on an XLR cable (less than 10ft) or a good place to get this stuff? I have a feeling GC/Sam Ash may not be my best bet.

Thanks

I would probably just go with Monster because when they do go bad, you take them to GC or wherever they sell them and they'll give you a brand new replacement, no questions.

Shop around. Prices on cables change all the time depending on supply and demand.

"when they do go bad" Every moster cable I've had has ended up either just stopped working or the end has fallen off. I've gone through like 5 in the past few years. I'd recommend ProCo. Thats what my boss uses. I work for a sound company.

EDIT, this is with HDMI, but I'd imagine its with instument cables too.

Yeah, I haven't had their ends fall off, but they usually short out. I've heard good things from Mogami... not sure what their warranty is.

I have broken every monster cable I have owned in under a year. I switched to Whirlwind cables and I have had the same set of cables for going on 5 years now. No bullshit.

Looking at

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Live-Wire-LIVEWIRE-XLR-MICROPHONE-CABLE-20-FT-100341862-i1128458.gc $15

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Pro-Co-Microphone-Cable-100281869-i1128400.gc $30

I don't need the length of the $30, and these will be studio-exclusive and not taking road beatings.

I agree on the Mogami cables. I love them and they also have the same warranty as Monster. GC will replace them for free.

i use mogami usually or ill buy a used monster cable, break it, then get it a new one at guitar center. monster cables may not be the best but its nice to be able to trade them in for new ones when they break.

Monster cables are a joke. There's not a whole lot of noticeable difference in quality between that and the other lesser known brands. I hate to say it, but we've never had a problem with anything Hosa. And we're HORRIBLE with cables. I run them over with my rig all the time just to spite my guitarist :)

Guitar Center accepts ALL monster XLR cables, with or without receipt?
