I love Janis Joplin's version “Little Girl Blue," which was originally done by Nina Simone. Has anybody else compared the two? Which do you think is better?

I thought this thread was an appreciation thread for Janis Joplin. Seeing that it is not, I take my leave.

They're both really good, but I have to say I prefer Simone's version, being a big fan of her's.

I'm turning this into a Janis appreciation thread because I just heard Pearl for the first time. Seriously one of the best soul records I've ever heard. What a voice. And the production is just top notch. Amazing stuff.

There are only like 3 off-topic posts to ignore. Let's just run with this. Her little intro to "Mercedes Benz" is such a great little ad-lib.

"Piece of My Heart" is a master-class in rock singing.
