As Tall As Lions - Dan Nigro's vocals are just superb. A very laid back, chilled band. Lovely to listen to.
Listen to: Stab City, I'm Kicking Myself, Circles
Moving Mountains - Amazing soundscapes, and a great range of vocals that always fit the music perfectly.
Listen to: Cover the Roots Lower the Stems, Sol Solis, Ode to Which We Will Bury Ourselves
The Dear Hunter - An amazingly creative and talented band. Each song is sonically different, but tied to together with repeaated themes and motifs. Often incorporating bluesy elements.
Listen to: The Lake and The River, The Pimp and The Priest, Saved
The Decemberists - Colin creates riveting stories, and switches from quietly serene, to a folky-rocky blend. They are always beautiful.
Listen to: The Rake's Song, The Hazards of Love 4 (The Drowned), O Valencia!
Grizzly Bear - Absolutely perfect music. Every single sound is planned to perfection, and adds to the music. They may take a few listens to 'get', but it is definitely worthwhile.
Listen to: I Live in You, While You Wait For The Others, Two Weeks
Manchester Orchestra - The characters that are created to convey the emotions, are utterly amazing. Amazing while loud, and amazing while quiet. I can find no fault to this band.
Listen to: Where Have You Been, Shake It Out, I Can Feel A Hot One
Sufjan Stevens - Really beautiful music, incorporating orchestral elements with an amazing voice. It all comes together so perfectly.
Listen to: Chicago, To Be Alone With You, John Wayne Gacy Jr.
Bat For Lashes - Natasha has a spectacular voice, and the ability to move me like no one else. She can really convey her emotions.
Listen to: Daniel, The Siren's Song, Glass
Andrew Bird - Choosing his words for the sound over their meaning, Andrew Bird is astounding to listen to. And also a great whistler.
Listen to: Not a Robot But a Ghost, Anonanimal
Wild Beasts - A charming and intriguing band. Hayden Thorpe has an amazing, inviting voice.
Listen to: All The King's Men, We Still Got the Taste Dancin' On Our Tongue
Portugal. The Man - They are always changing up their sound, and they bring out an album every time I blink. The vocal harmonies are my favourite part of this band.
Listen to: Salt, And I, How The Leopard Got It's Spots
The Hush Sound - Really bluesy, piano-rock. Listening to this band is like a breath of fresh air. Be prepared to fall in love with Greta Salpeter.
Listen to: The Boys are Too Refined, Hurricane
Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground - Amazing jazz/funk band. The songs never take me where I expect, and I love it.
Listen to: Hey Momma, Night of the Star-Child's Funk, Bowie the Desert Pea
Arcade Fire - Amazing. If you haven't heard this band, then you are missing out.
Listen to: Wake up, Crown of Love, Keep the Car Running
The Antlers - Hauntingly beautiful. This band takes me on an achingly amazing journey over and over again.
Listen to: Two, Kettering
The Reign Of Kindo - Enchanting music. It makes me feel like I'm running through a jazzy-dream.
Listen to: The Moments In Between, Breathe Again, Something in the Way You Are
Bon Iver - Amazing winter music. It's the little details he sings about, that make his lyrics amazing.
Listen to: Blood Bank, Blindsided, Skinny Love

Since you said anything, listen to You, Me, and Everyone We Know (http://www.myspace.com/youmeandeveryoneweknow).
I'm pretty sure I recommend them to anyone who posts a rec. thread. Really not the genre you're looking for, but they make some quality music.

haha, well since you said anything... A Fire Inside! (afireinside.net). I've been in love with them forever. Some of their old stuff has some scremo, so you might not like that, but their latest CD is scream-free. And their lyrics are amazing!
