- Consider this scenario: GetRealDenver.com becomes so thorough it eventually discloses nearly everything the cast does that isn't behind closed doors, eventually proving MTV's nondisclosure fears and ruining the season. Would you have any hard feelings?
Would I? Hell no. That's our point for existing – to blow the lid off this stuff while we can. We didn’t sign any agreements, and most of these events are taking place in public spaces, so we have every right to chronicle it. Not everyone in town is falling all over themselves to get the exposure this show will provide. When the show was announced at certain cities in the past, Chicago being a great example, people actively tried to prevent them from coming there. There's at least as much animosity and skepticism among people as there is excitement and anticipation.
I applaud him for that answer.

Yeah I can't stand that show. It's ridiculous how fake it is, and how people think it's so "real."

I think its ridiculous that he cares so much about the show to where he wants to "get dirt" on the show. Everyone knows that a ton of the show is set up. Also, everyone knows that people's lives really are not that exciting, so they have to encourage them to fight or get wasted or whatever. I just basically dont give a shit. I dont get what point he is trying to prove... He probably tried out for the show and they told him he wasnt interesting enough, so now he is bitter.

I saw sara from real world - philly today at Kash n Karry. She was nonchalantly talking on the phone, but i'd be willing to bet if this happened during filming the show would've played it off as her being innvolved in a verbal dispute with the gangsta gay guy about who likes it better in the ass. Now that would be entartainment.

anyone who was watched more than half an hour of this trash knows what it is. if they can't admit it's fake they should throw out their tv.

The thing about this show is, now, people only want to be on to become celebrities. When the show first started, it was about issues and young people, now it's just sex, drinking and fighting.
There was some article floating around a while back, but most of the people that go on The Real World or Road Rules do it because of all the money/publicity they get after the show. They don't do anything with their lives besides do the challenge shows and go around to colleges talking to kids about their experience on the show.
Most of them probably can't get jobs after the show because the employer recognizes them and remembers all the ridiculous stuff they did on the show. So, they just sit around and wait from MTV to offer them money to embarass themselves again on the Gauntlet, or whatever reunion show it happens to be.

dude. we already know "the real world" isn't really an accurate portrayal of the real world. it's seven stereotypical people put in a rediculously nice house stocked with tons of booze and no tv and handed a job. this guy's acting like he's exposing the biggest secret ever about telling what they're doing and how they are editing things to make them look a certain way. he needs a life.

I went to a casting call to be on the show as a joke with some of my friends. I actually made it through 5 of the 7 steps. I'm pretty sure the last two they fly you out to LA and talk to you there... anyways. I later found out that the reason I didnt make it on the show, which would have been this season (key west) was because I didnt "look like I was from Oklahoma" and it would be confusing to the general public... I guess they wanted me in wranglers and cowboy boots. I was fucking pissed. I dont care who you are, if you were offered to be paid to party, in a badass house, in a cool city for 3 months, you would do it. And yes, you get paid to be on the show. A good amount of money too.

haha it's so ridicolous, on that new show the Hills. My friend's next door neighbor is one of the main characters Audrina and she was like 3 years older than them and so doesn't act like that. It's so staged.

good point... this guy is only ruining the show for people who enjoy it, but appealing to people that don't watch it anyway. i don't see it getting very big - but at the same time i could be totally wrong. if MTV tries to take legal action it will make his site huge because of the media, I'm interested in how this is going to play out.

Thats so true. The majority of the "fake" shit in real world is just done through editing. they will make an argument seem more heated than it really was and such. To say the show was completely set up and scripted is ridiculous, because the show would be way more intertaining. What about when that dude from last season got punched in the face? was that fake? they just put make-up on him everyday to make it look like he got his face smashed? give me a break people.

everyone on the real world deserves to get punched in the face. That one guy, Theo, came my college and took all the women...though it wasn't like i was getting laid anyway.

My buddy and I made a great audition tape for me for the show, and then forgot to send it in, haha. I'm going to make a new one though, I would love to be on it.

I love how they are fucking with Real World, but basically, it used to be about something, but not it is a trainwreck.
This season, two of the girls are fucking crazy.
One of them is from Meriden, about 20 minutes from me. Wahoo.
My roommate wants to be one of the casting dudes for Real World, because it is a science.
They get really FUCKED UP people for the show, and throw them together.
Also, they drink a rediculous amount, and its stupid. The show wasn't always just about that either.
A good testament to Real World editing is how they made Gabe Saporta look like a total jerk the season that emo chick talked to him on the phone or whatever...when that was truly nothing, just blown out of proportion.
My friend does all that college booking so she runs into the Real World cast member stuff. They have competing troupes of cast members to speak.
How lame is that? Very.
Either way, I want to be on it, shut up.
I am not interesting enough though, and I don't drink.
So I would have to be way interesting for them to consider me.

I think the inherent problem with this idea is that so much of the show happens in the house where they won't be able to "get dirt". Most of the actual spontanious things that happen probably when they go out. I also kind of agree with people who have been saying that it really isn't a secret that this show is pretty scripted. I think it's more overlooked that documentaries are very scripted. Just look at "Winged Migration", that movie about birds migrating, most of the birds featured were trained birds!

You guys are crazy. There's no way MTV would deceive us. Why would they call it the "real" world, if it wasn't real? I'm so tired of these conspiracy theories about reality television. Of course, if everyone just listened to the name, "reality" television. Hello?

I despise reality shows.
I admit I do love the reality tv but this is cool. A different perspective on how the Real World really is. I don't think it would ruin the show at all. I think more people would want to watch it after reading stuff about it just to see what MTV is going to put in and how they are going to show it. No publicity is bad publicity in this world.

Sure, we all know it's bullshit. I'm just glad someone is taking a bigger stand than that....and the best way to do this through a large network television show is to (get this) NOT WATCH THE SHOW.
P.S. "overoverme", I am pretty sure that this season's "Zach" (the one with the curly hair? I forget if that's his name) doesn't drink and has more or less professed edge.

2 people from my 50,000 person hometown have been on the real world, Rachel and Brad, Orland Park, IL.
I know from people that showed up on air during Rachel's taping, Chicago I think, that they had them reshoot things that actually happened so it would look better for TV. There was a fight between Rachel and someone actually w/ a life from Orland that knew her and they reshot the fight for whatever angle they were going with.
Entertaining, sometimes; real, no
