I'm trying to find some new music to check out in this genre - I really love imogen heap (and frou frou of course), mates of state, rilo kiley, andrew bird, etc etc - does anyone have any other suggestions of some good indie/folk rock artists? If you check out my profile there is a huge list of bands/artists I like too ;0)

THANKS!

omg. will you marry me? lol JUST PLAYING. The Shins = MY FAVORITE OF ALL TIME. James Mercer, to me, is a lyrical genious. I love all their albums. and I'm super stoked to see James Mercer in "Some Days are Better Than Others" !!! You made my night by just mentioning their name <3<3<3

Woven Hand. 16 Horsepower. I'm literally just getting into them, like, right this moment, so I can't say any more than that, but I'm currently digging them, and so may you.

I just recently decided to get into more indie/folk artists as well. Unfortunately, most of the ones I listen to or have checked out are already listed in this thread, but The Avett Brothers, Andrew Bird, and Sufjan Stevens are my favorites.

Since Last Year is an indie band from Canada that no one really knows about. http://www.myspace.com/sincelastyear

Pompeii is a great indie rock band from Texas also very small. http://www.myspace.com/pompeii

I've been rocking these two bands lately none stop.

I'll second 'Nothing Happens for a Reason' by Pompeii. I think Grizzly Bear, the Decemberists and Joanna Newson are way overrated but they're way checking out.

You should look into Jupiter One.

The Indigo

Erin Tobey, Paul Baribeau, Iron & Wine, Elliott Smith, The Tallest Man on Earth, Brian Heim, The Mountain Goats.

Folk rock?
70s is the stuff for me.

Al Stewart. Peferably his early material up to 'Year Of The Cat'

Quiver and Jethro Tull are also recommended.
Dad saw Quiver back in '73 at Glasto, he says it was the best performance of pure music ever.
