He's been irrelevent for a few years but in his prime he was one of the most exciting players in sports. As a Sixers fan I'll always appreciate what he did for the city. The run in 2001 was incredible.

This is how I will always remember him. Though this is fucking hilarious, one of the most selfish players ever to play the game.

Ehh, I care some....but it made me feel old as hell! I remember watching him, his rookie year. Me and my buddy were big fans of him when he came in, and then I saw it was 18 seasons....and I was just like. Shit. I am old.

great player in his day, and he had to be doing something right to last that long in philly without the city calling for his head.

this is true about him leaving philly and going downhill, although having allen iverson on the knicks for a year may have boosted ticket sales for once before lebron gets there, i wouldnt have cared either way if he went there or not though. i guess he retired now, oh well.

He's a NBA icon. The cultural impact he had on the league when he entered was huge.

Yeah maybe true, but until he accepts that he's no longer a franchise player and needs to come off the bench I'd have much more respect for him.

Wade might be staying in Miami, or possibly Chicago since it's his hometown. Chances of getting Bosh are pretty high though.

I agree that he's a hall of famer, but the way that he spiraled his career the last three seasons, I do not think he'll be first ballot.

And I would not be surprised at all if a contender gets desperate and gives him an offer mid to late season. He'll be staying in basketball shape.

Why would anybody want to play in the most iconic basketball arena in the NBA with an incredible history? The knicks have the city, the history, and the money to pay. They essentially agreed to sink for 2 years to get a good player. They won't be getting Lebron and probably won't get wade, but they'll definitely get some good players.

I care that he retired because he was the first 16 year old NBA player.

I don't think players today really care about playing in Madison Square Garden, I don't think that will be a huge draw for most of these players. I can see the Knicks getting someone like Joe Johnson, but they won't get any of the A-list stars.

no. Hes a first ballot guy without a doubt.

17th all time in scoring. Sixth all time in scoring average, and only .1 out of the top 5. Four scoring titles and an mvp. Not to mention that he is far and away the greatest player under six feet tall to ever step on a court.

I dont care about the last three years, you cant argue against him being a hall of famer, so i dont see how that doesnt make him a no question first ballot guy.

They have the cap space right now for two stars. One of those A-list free agents will take the money if the contracts will meet expectations like they are now.

With the money they currently have sunk in Vince Carter and Rashard Lewis...not likely. There was a reason they couldn’t bring Hedo Turkoglu back.

Eh... if I had a vote I wouldn't vote him in immediately (depending on the class), but I'm really into good teammates, and I'm not easily impressed by huge numbers.

He was amazing, no doubt. But I hated seeing him take 30 shots to make sure he gets his 30 points. I know he could have been much better as a teammate if he gave the effort.

FondestMemory
11/27/09, 07:25 AM
People give him shit for being a shitty teammate, yet he averaged more than 5 assists a game. He was also an underrated defender, so he was giving his all on both ends of the court.

He averaged over 2 steals a game and over 5 assists a game for his career. All while scoring 27 a game. Know how many other players have averaged 25, 5 and 2 for a career? Two.

Hate the person all you want, but his game is hard to question.

i dont think lebron is gonna come to NY. i think we might get Wade.

the one reason why i think lebron is coming is because when the cavs played the knicks at MSG right after the world series ended, jay-z was there along with arod and at least 6 other yankees to try and show him how good it would be if he played in NY. lebron's shoes that night had pinstripes on the toes and one foot said "27" and the other said "new york"

i dont give a shit about anything that happened off the court, he was a marvel. his ability to get separation from defenders and create turnovers was simply unparalleled.

There's a certain 1-14 team that I know that could use a veteran PG.

Or at least another win in general.

No. Sessions and Flynn is all they have at PG.

Just because a team takes 2 in the first round doesn't mean they have a lot. It would've been the only 2 we had if Rubio stayed. :-p

Being a lifelong yankees fan doesnt equate to wanting to play for the knicks. Wearing those shoes to celebrate the yankees winning the world series doesnt equate to wanting to play for the knicks.

AI and Larry Brown seem to have a connection that might draw him but the situation there seems like it would be much like the one he just left in Memphis. Sixers are likely the best destination for him, all things considered.
