While these decade in retrospect threads are still cool, what are some of your favorite singles to have been released this decade?

Battles' 'Atlas' immediately comes to mind, though I'm generally not sure which of my favourite songs have been released as singles.

Too many to count. I first thought of Paranoid Android but then remember that was 1997 -.-;

I feel like I've heard this band mentioned a lot but have never checked them out. RIYL?

See, these are cool, because it promotes throwing out tracks that can turn to recs without the affectation of the other thread in which we pretend that we're able to definitively name one artist/act as "the best of the decade." This is purely opinion without the pretense that it isn't, and it covers a few artists (not just one).

There isn't anything wrong with this. I like this. I don't like the "artist of the decade" thread. Fuck that thread, but wear a rubber first. Many people have been inside that bitch (just look at the long line of lame in that thread).

Yeah, you probably have. They're an experimental, eccentric math-rocky band. They write some of the most powerful songs I know.

A lot of people's reactions. Try 'Tonto', and if you're not intrigued, I'll let it go. ha

For my first contribution, I'll try to mostly think of singles that have been played on the radio.

Coldplay - "Viva la Vida"
Coldplay - "The Scientist"
Taylor Swift - "Love Story"
Taylor Swift - "You Belong With Me"
The Fray - "You Found Me"
The Fray - "How to Save a Life" (I really like these two singles but can't get into much else they've done.)
Avril Lavigne - "My Happy Ending"
Anberlin - "Feel Good Drag"
Kanye West - "Jesus Walks"
Kanye West - "Love Lockdown"
Kanye West - "Heartless"
Fall Out Boy - "Dance Dance"
Kelly Clarkson - "Breakaway"
Kelly Clarkson - "My Life Would Suck Without You"
3 Doors Down - "Kryptonite"
Linkin Park - "In the End"
Linkin Park - "Bleed It Out"
Cascada - "Everytime We Touch"

I like it more, but I'm still not crazy about it. I'l check 'em out again some other time and see if they grow on me.

I don't like Avril Lavigne nearly as much as I used to, but she was the first pop singer I got into, so I'll always have a soft spot for her. She has some fun songs for sure. "My Happy Ending" is still a favorite of mine for sure; I love everything about it.

I saw her on her "Best Damn Tour." It was fun, but I felt creepy being a random bearded man with my random goateed friend amongst all the little girls.

I think they had a self-released self-titled album before The Better Life that had "Kryptonite" on it, so maybe it's technically a 90s single. The version we all know and love was released in 2000, though.
