I'm gonna be totally honest and say I was slightly disappointed. I saw them in St. Louis last month and it was incredible, but tonight alot of things seemed off, including the lighting, the sound, and the order and length of the set list. Manchester Orchestra & Thrice were amazing, I'm not a fan of Glassjaw so I can't really comment on them, but Brand New was just average good, if that makes sense. Don't get me wrong, it was a good concert, but I went in with epic expectations after seeing them in St. Louis, and in my opinion it just wasn't as good.

kevin devine impressed me. i wasnt sure how well hed be able to fill the room soundwise, even with the backing band. i am a huge kd fan though, and was dissapointed that he only played four songs.

man o was man o. the mix was a little off, but they sounded decent.

thrice were incredible. the fact that they went from milly michaelson to ttata to Silhouette made me insanely happy. i dont think i have ever been dissapointed by a thrice set.

i didnt watch all of glassjaw, because i went to go watch brian bonz at the acoustic stage. kevin came down and sang "judy and the alpha queen" with brian, and i got to talk to to kenny vasoli for a second.

i went back to my seat for the end of glassjaw. im not a fan, so i have no comment. i know that as music goes in this scene, im lucky to have gotten to see them.

i was also a bit dissapointed in brand new tonight. the first few songs were the same exact order as philly, and i felt like jess was just screeching through them. now ive seen the band 31 times, so i have a lot to go on, and id say that the first few were the worst ive ever seen the band. thats not to say that they were bad, just not up to the standard i have set for them in my head.

they played a solid set, but the show in philly had more songs. i dunno. it was really freaking awesome, though, to hear the entire arena sing the lyrics back to the band. i got chills a few times.

Maybe it's because it was my first time seeing Brand New and Glassjaw but I thought both bands absolutely killed it. Glassjaw was better though. I'm a bigger Brand New fan but you just can't beat Daryl's energy.

i really really enjoyed the show tonight. i loved hearing them play new songs & i loved hearing the crowd singing back. it wasn't my favourite brand new show ever, but it was definitely in the top 3, even though i was seating.

thrice, MO & KDev were immense & glassjaw were really good, but i'm not much of a fan to comment on gj

On topic: I would have loved to go to this but couldn't really justify the time and money that would be spent getting there.

I'm not some "PLAY YFW!" asshole, but to have a tremendous homecoming show in the place where all your successes started and only play one song off your shining debut...it's kind of stupid. They only played one YFW song? That's weird, I went to the CT show on 11/25 and they played 3 in a row off YFW.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that was slightly disappointed. About the irrelevant video clips, I noticed them too. They were different from their St. Louis show. And at one point, during Gasoline, the video clip playing showed a little girl repeatedly stabbing someone in bed. As far as I can remember, that doesn't have anything to do with Gasoline, and it really took alot away from the song, at least for me.

they've been my favorite band since 2002, and it seems like every time they play philly, the do two shows. also, ive travelled a few times to see them.

Not going to lie, but it's been a somewhat long time since I've gotten this excited for a show. Like many others that went, having to wait for this since July felt like forever and I have to say I'm equal parts enthralled and disappointed. This was either my 7th or 8th time seeing Brand New and I'm having trouble figuring out how it ranks in comparison to their shows of the past...though there were certainly a few unique positives.

Last time I saw Brand New at a venue this big was when they played Madison Square Garden with Dashboard Confessional so it was interesting to see them again out of the coveted club-sized venue. I get a major kick out of hearing the crowd singing with the band and last night wasn't any different than club shows in that respect...exxxxceeeepptttttt thousands and thousands more people screaming. You could tell a lot of people there loved Brand New and the place was absolutely packed (though with some guido douchebags and hot heads tucked in). I couldn't really imagine sitting at this show and I'm happy I upgraded to GA only a few days before. The floor could have been livelier at some points but I think that's more a proponent of my main caveat with the show.

Setlist setlist setlist. I've been listening to this band since the 7th grade and now I'm almost out of college, so it's safe to say that "Your Favorite Weapon" was the soundtrack of my adolescence. That being said, I'M NOT THAT GUY standing in the back screaming out "Logan!" or "Soco!" to the anger of everyone within earshot. But the lopsided setlist (6 from Daisy, 1 from YFW) gave the show a disjointed feeling because honestly, it just didn't really seem like people were feeling Daisy as much as they were everything else. Obviously this is a few things: a) it's new, b) some people haven't embraced it as gospel (yet), c) who the hell knows what the lyrics to Vices is anyway?

I know a ton of people I talked to expecting a setlist that was totally unique to THIS show and its circumstances: Brand New's biggest headline show, a homecoming show, the final show of the tour...but by the standards of what they've done on this tour, this setlist seems positively by the numbers. I don't want to sound bitter, I still had a tremendous time (losing the voice, sweating out half my mass, breaking up a fight after the show and nearly getting killed for it), but I can't help but feel like the experience could have been better with a little tweaking...whether that's tweaking the setlist, fucking around with the sound (which seemed to me a bit inconsistent), or playing every album in order until everyone in attendance is dead, Brand New will always leave you wanting more. And that is in no way at ALL a bad thing.

I didn't go, but I really like Kevin's, MO's, and Thrice's setlists. For the short amount of time they had to play, I feel like those were really good choices.

I agree with Drewski.

I rarely post on this site, but this way my 11th time seeing Brand New and I have to say it was the worst set I've ever seen them perform. Incredibly lopsided -- 4 songs from their first two albums and 14 from their two most recent albums.

I probably had overly high expectations, but I was expecting a lot more old stuff, this being a homecoming show and all. It was clear the crowd was most excited for 70x7, but there were definitely large chunks of time -- 20 minutes here, 20 minutes there -- when people were kind of just standing around. The crowd didn't know lyrics to the new songs.

They also ended the set at 10:40 -- I don't see why they couldn't have some back for an encore until 11:00 and played a few more old songs. Even just Jesse on guitar.

Still a fun time, but major disappointment.

I think people who attended this show expected Brand New to play a longer setlist that maybe included some more rare songs since it was such a special event for them to sell out the place...even an encore would have been nice. Also would have been nice to hear Jesse actually sing some of the songs instead of scream them but that was kind of expected going into it. Jesse just being Jesse.
