Saddle Creek Records (http://www.saddle-creek.com) has signed fellow statesmen Ladyfinger (http://www.ladyfingersucks.com). The band recently recorded their debut album, Heavy Hands, with Matt Bayles (Minus The Bear, Mastodon); it's slated for a Sept. 26 release.

I saw these guys open up for Cursive and I was not impressed. I've never actually heard any studio stuff, but live they sounded like generic rock to me.

It's a lot better than we get credit for. Thank you, :)

I definitely saw the Cursive/Ladyfinger/Criteria show at sokol. It was great, they even played "Just What I Needed". Best $12 ever.
Also, Omaha's music scene is Saddle Creek, and people have been kissing their ass since '02. Where were these people when 89.7 was playing "She-Devil" by Anchond0? Or how about some Poppleton? Or "Breakfast After Ten"? Straight Outta Junior High?
Man, they never should've closed the Ranch Bowl. So many great shows. That place was so much cooler than Sokol. They don't even let you through the door without a bottle of 5 O'Clock vodka and a pack of cloves. Here's hoping the Saddle Creek crowd stays at home for the upcoming Reel Big Fish show.

OMG, you've heard of Poppleton? They played at our post prom party, lol.

I agree, Ranch Bowl owned Sokol. I loved it there so much more. 72nd Street is where it was at.

Hell yes, I heard Poppleton. I think my old band played a pool party somewhere in western iowa with them.
At least they're better than venaculas.
And my god, I miss having 89.7 the river.

i actually like how this band sounds, its cool to see saddle creek sign another omaha band that isnt another indie/emo type band.
not dissing on them at all, its just a lot of the bands are similar
Saw these guys with The Faint awhile back. Wasn't that impressed with them. I might give them another shot, but they just seemed too generic at the show.
I miss the Ranch Bowl. I went to my first concerts there and had a blast. Sokol is fine for some shows, although security are a bunch of pricks.

Haha, I just found this thread today, but the mentioning of Poppleton is more than hilarious. Two of the guys in the band are alumni from my fraternity, and another is still an active member in our frat. Weird. They broke up and now kinda regrouped to form the band Rhymes With Orange. That's neat that people have actually heard of Poppleton.
