Flobots (Official Thread)

So last night I saw Flobots for the second time. They put on a great show at a really small venue in Chicago. Tim McIlrath from Rise Against even made a guest appearance for a few songs. I snagged the set list at the end of the show, if you're curious I can post it. They have a new record coming out in the near future, and the handful of new songs they played at the show sounded really good. Fight With Tools is still on a pretty constant rotation, it really grew on me the more I listened to it. So what do you think? Excited for the new record? Never listened to anything other than "Handlebars?" Seen 'em live before? Share your thoughts on Flobots here.

Yeah that's the only song I know by them, I've always liked it but I just never listened to them any past that song.

Definitely give them a chance. That song is deceptively simply at first glance. Their music actually has a pretty explicit message with some deep meaning, not just some shallow Top 40 hip-hop party music. I think a lot of people misread Handlebars and kind of wrote off Flobots as a one hit wonder because of it, but if you check out the record there's a lot more to the meaning and to their musical style.

Saw them supporting Rise Against at the beginning of the year. They were pretty decent, and I know I didn't give them as much attention as I could have. Fight With Tools was one of my favourite albums of last year. Will definetly try pick up their new album when it comes out.

rise is a good one to check out, it's like a rap anthem. and there's a war going on for your mind is random but engrossing. mayday!!! and combat next. the lyrics are always great.

This thread being as inactive as it is is a complete travesty. Flobots are one of the last great original artists out there. Survival Story is a great record.
