Is it good?

from what I've heard (two friends), it's not. And when it comes out on DVD, i'll give you my opinion on it, but it's not worth $8.50 to see

I thought it was funny. Maybe i'm a little biased though because:

1) i love jack black
2) i'm into stupid humor (if you're a movie nazi and someone who needs to be all serious all of the time, you will think this movie sucks though)

I'm the same way too. But the commercials didn't seem all that funny and I read a review saying those comm's ruin a lot of the jokes so....

idk if I'll wait for the rental or not

lets put it this way...

its from the creators of Napoleon Dynamite. and the trailer is just footage of Jack falling off a horse and being hit by objects

I didn't like Napoleon, and thought Nacho Libre was funny. There were some parts that were just plain retarded ie. most of the physical comedy, but I laughed alot at most of the rest of the movie.

What is wrong with Jack Black?

Saving Silverman - School Of Rock - Nacho Libre

The evolution of those movies is odd, he went from kick ass and obsene, to alright, to a kids movie.

Didn't he have a serious role somewhere in there too, King Kong?

I personally enjoyed the hell out of this movie. It was just innocence at its best, it was warmhearted and fun and ridiculous. The final fight was just spectacular and I was smiling through the whole movie, and I had a shit day at that. It was a hell of a turn around movie, because I was just in a bad, bad mood. Most movies can't do that, but this one did. The whole theater was laughing throughout too. There was just something that was genius about this - and I didn't like Napoleon Dynamite. Hess' direction fit a lot better because the style just matched the simplicity of the story and made the characters shine. I can't really understand people not enjoying this, unless they are uber-cynics, but I'm a huge cynic and I loved it. So far...it sounds like we have a lot of cynics!

it looks like the kindof movie, that isnt worth the 9.50 at the movies, but possibly a three dollar rental or bootleg rip. but then again, this movie looks like ass so i could be wrong.

There was literally one 60 yr old lady screaming her head off in the theater, and that was the only funny part about the movie. I honestly don't understand how you could enjoy that movie unless youre about 7, and even at the age it'd still be hard to understand.

It's so damn innocent and warmhearted, I mean, don't think too hard about it. I'm guessing you're younger and probably at the point where ripping on a movie like this is cool, but man, I think movies like this should be treasured because they're a dying breed of movies that make you feel good. Sure, watching movies that are more emotionally resonant and have significantly deeper themes is very rewarding also, but sometimes, you just want to watch a movie that is just pure entertainment. Nacho was just such a good character, it was impossible not to root for him. I understand critics ripping on it because it's nothing special for what they normally look for because it isn't a great movie, it's just a fun one. I personally loved it. Hess' got a fan after this one in me, and the Black and White boys continued their impressive resume together (by resume I mean this and School of Rock).

it's on TBS, it's such a funny movie. Jack Blacks facial expressions are hilarious, as well as his accent.

So I'm browsing AP.net today and I see this. a thread I created 3 years ago (almost to the day).

In all this time, I still have not seen this movie. I don't think Jack Black can be the star in his own comedy movie. He's funny, but not 2 hours funny.

I thought it sucked but had some funny moments. However, if any of you ever get the chance to check out real lucha libra, you definitely should - it's a lot more entertaining and fun than american pro wrestling, which is basically a soap opera for men.
