Hey everyone.
So, I'm friends with the guy who did the Michael Jackson medley (link here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R12QVtuB0_Q)), which has over 3 million views now, and I've talked with him about possibly doing some videos together. Specifically, I'd love to do some pop-punk medleys.
I have two videos of such medleys:
Fall Out Boy medley (short)
RiBG8pMyKjs
100-song pop/rock medley (kind of long)
6470747
I have like 4 or 5 other medleys already planned out, including Blink 182, Brand New + Taking Back Sunday (inb4 "blasphemy" accusations), Sum 41 + Avril Lavigne, and multi artist ones (Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Jonas Brothers, Paramore...). I just haven't recorded them quite yet.
Given the success of the MJ medley, it's clear that there's an audience for pop medleys. However, I'm not sure if there's the same kind of audience for pop-punk medleys. What do ya'll think? Do you find this entertaining? If you found these pop-punk medley videos online, would you share them with your friends? Is there even enough of an audience out there to spread this kind of thing?
A penny for your thoughts...

its a cool idea, i have an mp3 of one of blinks last concerts (before the hiatus) and they did a medley of all their older stuff like man overboard/josie/ a bunch of others i cant recall right now but yea its a cool idea. i went to a weird al concert randomly because i was on vacation and he happened to be playing there that night, and as i was losing interest (i didnt know a lot from his 2 more recent cds) he broke out into a 20 minute medley of like 15 old songs and it was awesome.
the legion of doom made great mashups but couldnt sell them, they had mashups (which are similar to medleys but of different bands). they mixed brand new with dashboard which was great, dashboard with sage francis, taking back sunday with senses fail. they mixed other bands like hawthorne heights, saves the day, and alkaline trio as well i just cant remember who they mixed them with. also, linkin park and jayz did that mashup of their songs. and there is a youtube video of snoop dogg rapping with the transplants live.
id love to hear a pop-punk mashup or medley, i search for some on youtube and find some decent ones but nothing too great. if you mixed new found glory and blink i think id pull a tiger woods and text you for 31 months behind my girlfriend's back

The comments from the Michael Jackson medley, which is awesome, by the way, are hilarious, especially when you consider that every "guy" in the video is the same guy:
"the one boy in the middLe looks a bit gay ... but it sounds good!"
"HOLY CRAP.
I've seen a lot of amazing stuff in my life. THAT---that was something else. Loved every moment of it! I know all you guys are going to make it BIG!"
"they are really great asian singers........... kinda"
The Fall Out Boy video was pretty cool too, I'd definitely check out the other videos if they were made.
This makes me think about Girl Talk and Super Mash Bros....

Excellent, yeah I really liked the Legion of Doom mash-ups. I've thought about putting together covers and originals (like ADTR's "Since You Been Gone" chorus + breakdown, with Kelly Clarkson's original verses), but I don't have teh 1337 skeelz.
I definitely have a Blink 182 medley coming up, and I'm considering putting together a Best-Of-The-Best pop-punk medley with bands like Blink, NFG, BN, SoCo, FOB, Matchbook Romance, Relient K, Sum 41 (?), and a few others. I suppose it's probably going to be more "poppy" than "punk." (The Brand New & Taking Back Sunday medley is almost finished, and makes me jizz every time I play through it. I'll be ready for your sexting after it gets posted...)
Thanks for the comment and support!

Yeah, that's the main point of this particular progression. I want to make another medley that focuses on their bigger "hits," like my friend did with Michael Jackson. That takes a bit more work, as you have to make the music flow into/out of different keys and progressions.
He has a knack for doing that. I have a knack for recognizing bass progressions and connecting the dots between songs w/ the same bass line.
