i wouldn't miss this. asking alexandria is now one of my favorite bands and i love i see stars and attack attack. breathe carolina has gotten really old to me. i'm from colorado, so i've been watching them for years (and even playing shows with them), and I just don't care about them anymore.

Holy shit, I will DIE OF HAPPINESS if this comes to Cleveland!

Which I think it will, because I See Stars hasn't came to Cleveland since July, Asking Alexandria NEVER has, and Attack Attack! came in September...which is a long time ago when March comes around!

And that's awesome how it'll be AA! and AA. I think the British rock band Attack! Attack! should join in too just so it could be AA!, A!A!, and AA. Haha.

Yeah, AA! is definitely getting worse. Caleb is better than Nick, though. I watch a few vids on YouTube and it seems that caleb would be a better vocalist for a band that doesn't have higher pitched and mid ranged screams. Hes more of a growler unless hes been working on high pitched screams.

They're still crabcore though.

i agree with asking alexandria being the best on the tour, but i would stay for the rest. i haven't seen iss in a while and i'm from colorado, so it would be cool seeing breathe carolina again. i saw attack attack 3 weeks ago, so it makes no difference to me if i see them again.

well i decided to sit down at listen to the cd. so i have a reason to back myself up.
vocals don't interest me at all. his lows are just not good at all. in the start of that one song called "A Candlelit Dinner With Inamorta", the vocal intro for the song just kills me, because his lows are just that bad.
all of the songs just run together. they all sound the same.
like you said the lyrics are just awful as well.
the only high point that i can hear in any of this cd is the singing. somewhat. i enjoy some of the singing that takes place in "Nobody Don't Dance No More".
the only song that i took a liking to on this whole cd was "I Was Once, Possibly, Maybe, Perhaps A Cowboy King". sounded very similiar to bmth, which i cant figure out if thats a good thing or not, but thats beside the point.

does that help you out?

ok. i just wanted a reason. so many people bash on bands without actually listening to them or giving them a chance. they do sound very similar to bmth, but i still like them. i'm guessing you listened to "hey there, mr brooks." if you have seen the movie Mr Brooks, you might appreciate that one a little more. i think that song has some of their best lyrics

Asking Alexandria is definitely the best/most talented on this tour imo.

They are kind of like a more hardcore version of A Day To Remember with the concept of singing and stuff mixed with deep low screams and brutal breakdowns.

Not as brutal as deathcore/death metal...but nobody said they were trying to be!

a day to remember is like a pop/punk band with heavy breakdowns.
dont compare asking alexandria to a day to remember ever again. that is a low jab at a great band.

I mean I didn't say they were better.

I totally love all of ADTR's songs and have seen them multiple times.

But Asking Alexandria does goes a low lower and their breakdowns are more brutal (not THAT brutal...but more brutal than ADTR)..and I'm not saying ADTR should be heavier...they are like my second favorite band, and Asking Alexandria ISN'T my favorite!

Yeah I guess I should have said what I meant by "hardcore"...because hardcore means like completely different stuff to eveyrone haha.

That sounds awesome though!

They were pretty amazing at Warped this year, my favorite performance :)

Push pits at shows are beyond gay.

It's all about shows at small venues where you can have pile ups for chants and stage dive! Even though people up front flipping out cause kids jump on them for chants for songs need to go die cause they're fucking retarded for throwing piss fits all the time about it

Yeah. I saw The Used last month and we were kinda far back. I decided to enter the push pit, cuz I was bored, and I walked out with a broken wrist (I have to wear the cast for another month and I might need surgery). I don't usually enter those cuz I like being up closer, but it just goes to show that they suck and they are more dangerous.

lol i dunno anymore. i consider the pit the first few rows after the front, like where everyone is piling on top of eachother and then the "moshpit" the part that's about halfway back where it's way more spread out and people are actually pushing and running into people.

so i guess i would consider "moshing" the part that is further back in the crowd

Yeah alright! That case I don't really like moshing haha.

Except for circle pits...I love running in a circle lol.

And walls of death are pretty fun, because I know I'm about to get fucked up and can brace myself for it.

Not randomly get hit so hard from the back that my closed mouth collides with the person in front of me's head and my tooth cuts the inside of my lip up and I'm bleeding. Not too into that haha.

haha i think when i broke my wrist, it was in the wall of death. i fell in a moshpit and someone rolled over my wrist, but i then did a wall of death and the same thing happened a second time...that's when it really hurt lol. the wall of death was so worth it. i've done 2 more since that show. i just feel bad for the person who runs into my cast, cuz this thing is freakin' hard.

You just need to like clothesline someone with it. hahahaha. jk =D

i guess i should have made that clearer. right when i fell, someone else fell on top of me, so both of our weight went on my wrist. it happened really fast. but yeah, the crowd wasn't too good about helping people out when they fell. i'm not mad though. it was an awesome show and i plan on seeing the used again.

Haha, I'll stick with hardcore dancing at shows.

Besides the questionable name and the most of the time unwarranted negative attention it gets, it's a lot of fun and a really good work out at the same time. Plus since I don't play football as often as I used to, it's more or less the way I get out most of my aggression.

I dont think pushpits are Gay... thats what a MOSH PIT is in my opinion BUT I have moved to Hardcore dancing.. Just sometimes a circle pit or a mosh pit is nessicary. I hate it when the Hardcore dancers arent dancing but when someone starts a pit and they punch em in the face or some shit. I also hate when im trying to Hardcore dance during a breakdown and i keep getting bumped into because im not one to punch some kid on purpose.

I saw AttackAttack open for Escape the Fate and during ETF's set it as amazing.. I hate that band but wanted to run a muck in a pit.. It was awesome. There was a lane open in the back for HArdcore dancers and a push pit in the middle with some people in between both tp separate them.. At the last AttackAttack show I saw there was a push pit on one side and a dance pit on the other.. I respect that. But when people are fighting over "control" thats stupid as hell. The only thing that can come outta that is fights.

It dont matter whats "gay" in your eyes. Everyone paid to go enjoy a show.. Let them do them if they arent bothering you

People at shows need to learn common sense in my opinion. For example, most kids are smart enough to realize you may get hit ( a lot of the time not on purpose) if you stand next to a pit, but kids will do it and then flip when people get into them. It's also annoying when a pit is all kids dancing and that one person will start trying to push kids dancing when no one is doing a push pit. Last two times that's happened I almost got in a fight once (cause the dude got hit because if someone is being a douche I won't make sure I avoid hitting them like I would anyone else) and the other guy I could of beat the shit out of but I just threw him on his ass and he got the message.

Push pit drama typically happens to "metal" bands...sort of. What I mean is when a band is labeled as 'metal' and/or appeals to metal kids, yet they play a breakdown every five seconds like all of the hardcore and scene bands (i.e. As Bloods Runs Black, Winds of Plague, and a lot of metal bands actually). A lot of the time kids start dancing first and that's the people wanting to push pit that instigate the fights, doesn't stop kids from dancing and from what I've seen/experienced it's usually the people starting shit who are trying to push pit that get beat up and/or kicked out. When it's more "scene" bands, kids trying to push dancers usually just get thrown on their ass and they get the message.

Push pits at shows are beyond gay.

It's all about shows at small venues where you can have pile ups for chants and stage dive! Even though people up front flipping out cause kids jump on them for chants for songs need to go die cause they're fucking retarded for throwing piss fits all the time about it

I completely agree. Someone will be right next to a pit, get hit and wanna start a fight. BUT you cant tell me you havnt seen dancers purposely stand on the edge of a pit and swing back, hit someone, and then repeatedly do it. thats bullshit.. There not IN the pit for a reason.. If someone accidentally hits someone takes a few steps away and then keeps doin their thing then thats all good. But swingin back hittin someone and keep backing up so you cna keep hitting them is bullshit. I seen a dancer STANDING STILL and outta no where kick back as hard as he could at this emo lookin kids knee... If it woulda hit dead on that motherfucker coulda had a knee problem for life and he didnt even do anything. Someone I know headbutted the dancer in the face and pushed him against a wall and told him to try some pussy shit again and he didnt ( the kid who kicked the other dude had problems with a friend brother... They all were willing to hold him down and let the other dude beat the shit ooutta him but when me and a few others had the other dudes back they backed off.. Then the cops came and those kids talked shit WHILE STANDING NEXT TO THE COPS and wouldnt come across the street to where we were... Straight pussy shit).

Anyway.. About the dancers starting first.. I dunno ive seen it happen both ways.. the dancers start doin their shit and the moshers push em out the way. But I have also seen plenty of times a pit happen and then dancers throwing all of the kids out of the pit or punching them in the face just to STAND THERE. Like I said I dance, but I wait till the music is at a part to dance to. Mainly breakdowns... If anyone wants to pit before that be my guest.. I dont see the point in stopping people from having their fun, only to stand in the middle of a circle and wait for a certian part of the song

crazytoledo
12/08/09, 03:53 PM
Yeah, that's true. The only time I'll somewhat go for people standing on the side is if they'll flip out for something that's accidental and try to hit you or start shit over it. People like that annoy me and if they hit me or try too I'll return the favor. If there's just shoving I might dick around and go back and forth. Like at a show last month some kid shoved me cause I happened to be by him when I was dancing so I wound up just going back and forth and jumping into the sides bouncing off of them but I wasn't gonna hit him since he didn't hit me. Now if I was dancing by him and he got pissy and hit me I might return the favor but that's only natural I guess.

haha leave the kid alone

I had a good laugh at what he said. Sarcasm's sarcasm and if people don't like what goes on at a show it doesn't bother me.

Haha I know ^!

And I guess hardcore dancing isn't really that bad, as long as it's not like a random person doing it right next to you without warning.

The coolest thing I saw was like everyone was in a circle looking in, and one person at a time would do their thing and then they'd let another person go. Then a breakdown hit and everyone all at once started going crazy haha it was awesome to observe!

As long as I can get out of a pit at any time, they're totally fine with it! I like looking more than actually being on one to be honest haha.

It's actually a really, really good way to get out aggression and you can get a good work out of it. Just make sure to "limber up" (haha zombieland reference in case you're unaware) cause if you don't, pulling a muscle sucks lmao.

This whole conversation is about people who know how to dance and people who don't. People who know how understand they are gonna get hit, and they don't sweat it. Retards who think it looks cool and run in swinging fists are the people who start fights when they accidentally take a hit to the face

Dude... AGREED. Fucking amazing way to release anger and shit. But the next day I hurt like hell....Sometimes.

And rollerman.. Thats fucking true. And the asshole drunks who run in thinking their invincible and start swingin on people including girls. But yea Ive witnessed people just beat on people outside the pit because they can or jump on peoples shoulders during Group Vocals and just start raining down punches on the front row.Unnecessary in my opinion

crazytoledo
12/10/09, 01:09 AM
Jumping on people shoulders for gang vocals is always fun. Especially if you can get a small stage with no barrier and a small distance between the pit and band. The whole "pile up" part with everyone shouting the words always has an epic kind of feel to it. And when I'm standing for those and people jump on my shoulders/back I just try to hold them up since I'm usually on the other end of it. Something about jumping up for a chant you really like and not coming back down on the ground right away is amazing. And of course, if you have a friend up front you can always just launch yourself onto their shoulders for an entire chant haha

Wow... Umm, no.
A Day to Remember and Asking Alexandria are very different.
A Day to Remember has actual lyrics, a true fanbase, and a few credible albums under their belt.
Asking Alexandria are a "heavier" version of Attack Attack!, who are a "heavier" version of I See Stars, who are a "heavier" version of Breathe Carolina.
Honestly, I'm just in a bad mood and felt like bitching, but wow... No.
And I don't have too big a problem with any of the bands or music itself, but people the really discriminate within the four are basically splitting hairs. They're all top dogs in an "up and coming" genre of music that is rapidly becoming washed out.
But it'll be fun.
Let the drama ensue.

But I don't get it, like by new band do you mean new in general, or new to Warped?

Almost all of the songs off of I See Star's current CD are really old, if you were from the area you'd know this lol.

Umm...I do know this, and have been listening to the original Save The Cheerleader, Common Hours, Jacks Smirking Revenge, Mistaken For A Westend Mystery Shake, Where The Sidewalk Ends, from Green Light Go! And even Car Alarm Symphony....all for like over a year.

I'm just saying that releasing two albums that close is pretty impressive. I mean, they still re-recorded all of 3D probably around a year ago, and it's usually every two years a band releases an album.

personal experience. i've seen them twice, Take Action and DRD3, so i guess you could say theres a difference in the fanbase of the bands on those tours. but both times i saw plently of them, most of them in breathe carolina shirts, so thats the only reason i singled out Breathe Carolina. i guess i'll be proved wrong by the time i go to this tour then??

I know, but not every band follows the "norm." And to be honest it seems more bands are releasing CDs in back to back years nowadays. Hell, a lot of bands that last released a CD two years ago seem to have been gone forever. In today's scene with so many bands and so many releases available (either major label, indie label, local acts or unsigned bands) it's hard for a band to hold off on writing new material because it seems once they do everyone forgets about them.

Yeah, I really like the bands and wish more would release albums more often.

TDWP is already showing improvement by claiming to have one out by like, September which is also pretty good.

But bands that wait a while also make them really hyped, like I've been waiting a new Bullet For My Valentine album for over like, TWO YEARS by now haha.

I really doubt about the September release date. Earliest I see them releasing it is the following Spring, or late Winter. I mean they are touring until April, are doing a European tour, then will need about 6 weeks in the studio, then tracking, touching it up, and then promoting it.

The breakdown in both songs are the exact same. It's not a "similarity" or just a part, the whole breakdown is the same. The youtube video with the comparison got deleted or I'd just link to it.

The part during the breakdown at the middle is similar to Jeremy's how he does that little almost talking transition to the low, if that makes sense.

Bury Tomorrow was really good...

Asking Alexandria had like the greatest screamed vocals live I've EVER heard..shrieking highs and demonic lows lol. They didn't play Candlelit Dinner, Not The American Average, OR THE FINAL BATTLE! I'll try to think of the set later!

I See Stars was awesome as well...both vocalists were right on. Played Save The Cheerleader, Common Hours, What This Means To Me, 3D, The Big Bad Wolf, last song being Project Wakeup.

Attack Attack! also really surprised me...Caleb has gotten seriously great at screaming...and I didn't even miss any highs on their old songs.

But they opened with Sexual Man Chocolate...by the way, their clean vocalist has gotten like, perfect without autotune. Then played The People's Elbow...Bro, Ashleys Here...Catfish Soup, then two new songs...."A For Alexander" and "AC130" which were both SERIOUSLY heavy and the best breakdowns they have ever made. Then of course ended with Hot Grills into Stick Stickly.

All of the bands had great crowd chants, there was nothing bad really. Except for the band that filled in since Breathe Carolina wasn't there...Trap House Rave - a bunch of horrible electronic/rock rappers that like made me sick! Though the ended with a cover of Downfall of Us All that was pretty good lol.

Met Devin Oliver and he was super nice, got a pic AND I See Stars has the awesome shirts with their logo on the front and in huge letters "SHE SCREAMS MY NAME" all on the back! $20!

no reason that should of been more then 12 or 15.....

Well they're getting bigger so I'm not surprised that it increased!

But if you know like every word to every one of their songs and just saw and met their lead singer...20 doesn't seem much at all lol.

I think I see stars is only a good band if you are a female. I think the screamer, if you wanna call him that ( I dunno the correct term) should totally be doing something better. But who am I to say. ISS has a name for themselves so their getting money. If they were nobodys then id really hope that dude made his own band

Yeah, he's the screamer haha.

But idk, I totally love them and they were one of the first electronica/hardcore bands that did it before it got so popular, and they haven't really changed. Plus their cleans aren't even auto-tuned and he can sing amazingly high...but not annoying Skylit Drive high lol.

but merch prices also should rival the $ taken off the top by venues, and unless your playing in HOB or arenas that percentage should be big enough to charge that much. I don't know Im just not used to seeing merch so expensive at club shows, who knows.

Yeah, well I rarely see shirts that AREN'T $20 from the place that they played...aside from like the lesser-known opening bands!

Went to the Chicago show today.. The first peeps were dope. Asking Alexandria was dope just like last time I saw them. Chilled in the back of the club/bar, whatever you wanna call it where they had a window open on the balcony for I see stars and Breathe Caroline who I will admit, ISS was better then the last time I saw them (even though i just Heard them today). Breathe Carolina...well they.. they were just aweful. If they didnt have any vocals at all they would be good. AttackAttack!..Well I liked them for a while unlike alotta people and they did there thing. Didnt really like the dude from ISS coming to sing with them but whatever. It is what it is.
Started with Sexual Man Chocolate and played basically their regular set + AC130

Went tonight...it was SICK!

throwing this out there. the AA! crew probably just figured out that they can use melodrone instead of autotune, he sounds twice as good and no effort put in besides actually switching the vocal program

bury tomorrow: great

asking alexandria: awesome, got videos of them. will have them up by tomorrow.

i see stars: not too bad but still the same shit ive heard the past like 5 times ive seen them.

breathe carolina: what the fuck.

attack attack: new songs are good. ac130 wasnt as great as i thought it would be, its short too. but the tuning they have now makes their old shit sound so much heavier, which was awesome.

i recorded all of asking alexandria, big bad wolf by iss, and the new songs and a couple others by attackattack

I am pretty sure the opening band Bury Tomorrow played more songs than Asking Alexandria and that pisses me the fuck of cause I was mainly there for them and they deserve to play a longer set since the crowd was going insane for them. Got a signed guitar pick that was thrown out to the crowd at the end.

I See Stars sounded pretty dang good, vox could have been turned up a bit more but that was it.

Breath Carolina made sure to get rid of any epileptics with their lights at the beginning of their set. Someone was off with the rest of the band pretty much during every single song and with as much touring they have done there is no excuse. The main thing you heard was drums and guitar and none of the techno/synth stuff you'd expect.

I just started listening to Attack! Attack! because I planned on going to this show b/c of the support and enjoyed their show. The security committed a party foul, excuse the pun, by putting a halt to all the hardcore dancing going on the entire night half way through their set. Not much they could do during Stick Stickly though.

Wow, seeing that makes me not care about missing Breathe Carolina now lol.

Aside from Tripped And Fell, I'd be highly disappointed they didn't play Diamonds, No Vacancy, Show Me Yours, or Put Some Clothes On. Granted they have a new album, but still only ONE song from older stuff?

Actually, a very good setlist. Most fans should know SMC already, so that's a GREAT opener. I still am partial to their Stick Stickly opener :\

That's very stupid. Bury Tomorrow is getting big, but from the looks of that setlist, AA deserved MUCH more time.

Surprising...how were the clean vox? Devin is known for being a bad live singer.

The vox were really clean as far as I could tell with the volume low and the female population belting them out.

Headliners in Louisville,KY. My first time going there which is surprising considering i live 45 min away and usually drive 2 hours to go to Bogarts. Headliners is significantly not as good of a venue as Bogarts in my opinion.

well this tour is stopping in texas for sxsw i can either see them for free next thursday or pay for the 18+ show(plus Evergreen Terrace) the day after. So yeah, im gonna go to the 18+ show if at all possible and get to dodge all of the little kids!!! Plus the 18+ show Artery threw last year was just out of hand lol. They do it as this place that does not do any sort of shows like these any other time of the year and the staff just dont stand a chance. Last year it was A Skylit Drive, Dance Gavin Dance, Whitechapel, A Day to Remember and the Devil Wears Prada and it was bad lol. At some point there were large plastic trash cans being emptied on the front rows and being thrown around the pit. And I almost saw Jonny Craig get in a fight lol

Im actually not very happy with the Asking Alexandria setlist. I really want to hear Nobody Dont Dance, American Average, I used to Have a Best Friend, and Final Episode. Luckily theyll be headlining here in May so i'll just have to wait for that.

Ive been listening to Bury Tomorrow for a while and im looking forward to seeing them.
Breath Carolin no thanks.
I agree with whoever said that the scream vocalist in ISS could be doing something a lot better. I like a couple of their songs but theyre are way too poppy for me.
I've really stayed away from Attack Attack for a while now because of the autotune and the corny electronic parts. Maybe theyre new stuff will be better but im not liking "Sexual Man Chocolate" which the title just makes me dislike them anymore. I did use to listen to their music because Austin is one of my favorite vocalists but now Of Mice & Men is better. They basically have laid the groundwork for that branch of metalcore, which is where the genre seems to be going, and now Of Mice & Men and Asking Alexandria are going to take their place.
