The staff recommendations for the week can be found below (Click "Read more" to view all of them).
Frank: Lakes (http://www.myspace.com/eagerseas) (formerly known as Eager Seas)
Jason Tate: The Academy Is, Days Away, Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes, The Hush Sound, Kane Hodder, Less Than Jake, Lifetime, Punchline, P!atD, and Paramore.
Melissa: PARK (http://www.absolutepunk.net/park). The new record drops July 25th. Get excited for it.
Darren: Why not a little love for the recently released Trophy Scars (http://www.absolutepunk.net/trophyscars) record?
Ryan: Fiore (http://www.absolutepunk.net/fiore), Blackpool Lights (http://www.myspace.com/blackpoollights), and Brand New (http://www.myspace.com/brandnew).
Greg: Check out Talib Kweli's (http://www.myspace.com/talibkweli) Quality, Gift of Gab's (http://www.quannum.com/site/) 4th Dimensional Rocketships Going Up, and Dizzee Rascal's (http://www.dizzeerascal.net/) Showtime.
Katie: Big City Dreams (http://www.purevoluem.com/bigcitydreams), Patent Pending (http://www.purevolume.com/patentpending), The Sleeping (http://www.purevolume.com/thesleeping)
Steve: Sleeping at Last (http://www.myspace.com/sleepingatlast), Edison Glass (http://myspace.com/edisonglass), and Downtown Singapore (http://myspace.com/downtownsingapore).
Pat: The Movielife, Set Your Goals and This Is Hell. Watch: Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, City Of God, 21 Grams and uh, the entire Ernest collection.
Paul: Can (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Can_%28band%29)'s album Ege Bamyasi. One of the most influential bands of the past 30 years who goes largely unappreciated by the masses.
I was bitching to iHATEapril about how these weren't here yet, and what do you know..
Fear Before The March Of Flames (hint hint I submitted something about a new song)
Gatsbys American Dream (Love the new song.)
The Fall Of Troy
Seems like the good bands are from Washington.

its too bad Forgive Durden is probably one of the hardest working, most intelligent and musically sound band I have known and had the oppurtunity to consider a friend. If anyone thinks that they are a GAD rip off is misinformed, and obviously hasnt given the cd much of a chance, without a chip on his absoluteshoulder.net. So much progression from EP to Full Length...
Forgive Durden > Jason Tate.
please bring back scene points so i can go back to negitive 5 million.
ps. this providence and GAD have absolutly nothing in common except who produced their last few releases and geopgraphic location.

Sigur Ros- Takk. Ever since ( ) I wasa huge fan, and with Takk they don't disappoint. Eventhough you can't understand the singers vocals, the melodies itself are just amazing and epic. Listen to Saeglopur and you'll know what I mean
Keanne- Under The Iron Sea. Great music if you like Coldplay. Mellow piano rock, but done very well.
The singer sounds a lot like Jim Atkins from Jimmy Eat World. Listen to: Nothing In My Way, and Crystal Ball
Cursive- Happy Hollow. They're back but unfortunately without the violinist. But it's still really well done. Imagine if Domestica and The Ugly Organ had sex and made a baby. Listen to: Dorothy and Forty, Bad Sect, Retreat
Hush Sound- Like Vines. Awesome band sounds like Cursive/Eisley. Listen to: The whole album
Underoath- Define The Great Line. Harder and definately more in your face then the TOCS album. Definately worth checking out. Listen: The whole album
Mew- Frengers. Amazing band from the UK. Sounds like Coheed/Rush/Interpol but WAY better than any of them. Listen to: The whole album, but especially Snow Brigade
Albums that blow
Dashboard Confessionals- Dusk And Summer. The album does not gain any momentum. Very boring and nothing sticks with me through out the whole album. Listen to Copeland, or Keanne they know how to play mellow emotional music
Cute Is What We Aim For- Same Old Blood Rush With A New Touch. So many things wrong with this band. Lyrics are contrived like there song titles. The chorus aren't catchy, and with lyrics like "If you lie you don't deserve to have friends, if you lie you don't deserve to have them" I honestly couldn't stand the album. The vocals are annoying as hell and musically it's VERY sub par.
Halifax- The Inevitability of a Strange World. Too much roll not enough rock. They try to be something they're not. Think Letter Kills or Emanuel but with absolutely no hook. They have a song called Better Than Sex and I hardly think the album is.

I recommend not calling This Providence a GAD rip-off.
I recommend them not sounding like one to me then.
it's too bad forgive durden made one of the bext records of the year tate.
and it's too bad this providence is going to do the same.
It's the opposite of my musical taste. I don't like the hollow sound of the recording, the vocals, or the lyrics - all three of which are very important to my enjoyment of an album.
its too bad Forgive Durden is probably one of the hardest working, most intelligent and musically sound band I have known and had the oppurtunity to consider a friend. If anyone thinks that they are a GAD rip off is misinformed, and obviously hasnt given the cd much of a chance, without a chip on his absoluteshoulder.net.
