his more serious films. i added the number 23 just because, even though i know it won't get any votes. i haven't seen man on the moon. my vote goes to the truman show.

Eternal Sunshine will win because of the "film" douches, but it should be the Truman Show.

The Truman Show is really good, but I don't think it tops Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Truman Show never gets old ... even though i loved Number23.. that was his best performance IMO

i loved all of them except number 23, that one was okay...

picked eternal sunshine, with truman show/man on the moon following closely.

The Truman Show, a serious film by him that still manages to be funny in parts.

Eternal Sunshine is one of my favorite movies of all time, so I picked that. But he was so good on Man On The Moon. Haven't seen The Majestic yet.

i don't understand this. what makes someone a film douche? and why would that type of person pick eternal sunshine?

you're a moron.

People that obsess over mediocre movies such as Eternal Sunshine because its story and style make it undesirable to the mainstream. You're probably one of them.

sorry, but eternal sunshine was a success, both critically and financially, and it's an all around better written movie than the other choices.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

It still baffles me that he didn't receive an Oscar nomination. Hell, the film didn't even receive a nomination for Best Picture.

yeah, the script was definitely great, but i feel like it was poorly executed. that director's previous movie sucked balls too, so it's not too much of a surprise that he fucked up eternal sunshine. granted, i've only seen it once, so maybe i was too young to appreciate it, but from what i remember, it was kind of meandering and just an all-around missed opportunity. i was being a bit harsh before, but i do think it's very overrated.

i never saw Human Nature, so i can't comment on Michel Gondry's previous work, but The Science Of Sleep is very good too.

and i'd recommend going back and watching Eternal Sunshine. it's excellent. definitely Carrey's best movie overall, and probably Charlie Kaufman as well.

to be honest, i didn't use the search bar. it's not the first time a poll has been made more than once, though.

my Adam Sandler poll: http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=1456001

results from this and my jim carrey poll will be used in a final best serious movie by a comedic actor poll. also considering will ferrell's stranger than fiction, which i think is the only more-serious-than-his-other-movies movie he's done. any other suggestions, such as other actors or specific movies, will be greatly appreciated, because honestly, i haven't seen every movie that's ever come out.

totally agreed, but eternal sunshine is just better.

man on the moon would be my second choice. then truman. then majestic. number 23 wasn't good.

The 1 person who voted for the Number 23 needs to be straight up murdered - that film was atrocious.

2) The Truman Show

Man on the Moon was pretty good. Number 23 was decent. Haven't seen The Majestic.

Eternal Sunshine for me. But it looks like some people need to go watch The Magestic, because to me, it's easily Carrey's second best film. I love that movie.

The Cable guy? It is not the best out of the choices but I always thought of that as one of his more "serious" movies and should have been included

i thought of it as more of a dark comedy than anything. not a me, myself, and irene or an ace ventura, but not that serious, either.

I love the Truman Show as a movie, but Jim Carrey pushes himself much more in Eternal Sunshine (which I also love). Seeing as this poll is about his best serious role, and not about your favorite movie of his, I have to go for Eternal Sunshine.
