I am ready for a new TAI... album. Is anyone else?

preppyak
06/18/06, 08:38 PM
I am...if it's like "The Fever", I like it...fairly similiar style, but still good. I'd like them to keep sticking with focusing on the poetry in their lyrics...maybe even advance it a little by adjusting formula a little...

But yeah, I'd like a new album at some point

Yeah, I think for a FBR band, they are pretty catchy.

I didn't mind the EP, "The Fever" and the different version of "Down and Out" were my favorites. I would really like to hear some new stuff. Is "The Fever" the only new song they're playing at Warped?

he really is. it was pretty fun. it was a very poppy warped for me. i saw std, tai, cartel, mcs, paramore, and hellogoodbye.

went to go watch armor for sleep and they almost put me to sleep

met william from tai, travis from gch, and kevin from cartel.

up front for every set. good times.

Haha, I just put on some The Academy Is...

It is definitely time for a new album. The only song I enjoyed from the EP was "The Fever", and William does act too much like a girl (plus thewilliambeckett.com is very egotistical). The music is excellent though.

preppyak
06/19/06, 05:54 PM
Um...

What?
yeah...that was poorly phrased...taht they actually use poetic techniques to create their harmony at times...like alliteration, (and I can't remember the poetic term, but the reliance on more pleasing softer consonant sounds), etc

I meant poetic technicques...as in they had a good teacher in high school and they took notice, not as in they are great poets.

I like them mucho. Unfortunately, I haven't listened to Almost Home in a long time. And their EP was hella bad. True

Their EP and Demo were the best things they put out. hahaha...

Listen to "Judas Kiss" or "The Author" and tell me you don't want to kill yourself quickly. Lyrically, vocally, they are a shell of a talentless/cliche pop-punk band, let alone what they realized with "Almost Here"

For example:

"He may seem familiar because he looks like your mirror.
You've lied like a lawyer, but don't deny it when you're face to face"

Moreover, to know that William can actually sing with pitch changes, unlike what he uses on that atrocious EP, is alone what makes you a fucking idiot

Yeah, honestly. He's not a bad lyricist at all. I'd even say he's one of the better lyricists in a band whose that popular with the kids today.

Dan CiTi
07/02/06, 10:41 AM
Yeah the only bad that isn't really catchy is Kane Hodder. I can't wait for their Truckstops & Statelines DVD/EP. As for the new full-length it was in the Alt. Press 100 most antcipated albums and they said they want to have 20 songs on it.

Yeah, honestly. He's not a bad lyricist at all. I'd even say he's one of the better lyricists in a band whose that popular with the kids today. I think you guys missed my point, that being that their EP was not good, but their LP was...

I like his lyricism in Almost Here, not so much in the EP. Add in the fact that he actually utilizes his voice in Almost Here and you'd have why I think that EP was one of the worst things released that year in pop-punk, because it didn't show their talent, and it was underwhelming. Almost Here is basically the opposite of their EP, it hooks you in early, and to the last word of the last song, holds you. I turn off their EP 15 seconds in now becuase its uninteresting.

I love Almost Here, it was the only album that held for most of the year last year...and I love TAI. I just hated the EP

fedhed7

My eyes can't believe what they have seen.
In the corner of your room you've stockpiled millions of my memories.
Oh Doctor, Doctor, I must have gotten this sick somehow.
I'm going to ask you a series of questions,
And I want them answered on the spot, right now.
Is it serious?
I'm afraid it is.
Am I gonna die?
Well son, death is gonna catch up to all one day,
But yours is coming quicker than ours, than ours.

Which is basically what Fast Times seems like it's going to be. TAI are an actually talented pop band, unlike most of the newer bands out there (FTSK, The Maine, etc.).

I hate it -- the band has become a parody of themselves. They unfortunately blend right in with all the other shiny, happy pop-dance scene bands out there.

just me or was Fast Times a huge letdown?

one of the biggest letdown's of the year for me. i just had big expectations, i guess. they are one of those bands i really want to like, and their first album was so solid, but both santi and fast times fell flat for me.

I've got mixed feelings on Santi, it's got some solid tunes, but most of it is forced and mediocre. Fast Times is a joke and desperate attempt for money by the label.

I didn't think Fast Times was that bad... It was, however, a huge change from where they stared. I think FBR needs to lay the fuck off. They should sign with someone else.

Well unfortunately the era that Almost Here was created is dead. We're never going to hear anything like that again. As far as exploring other genres to stay in the game, Pop-Punk, at least to me, is not the place to go for them, Fast Times shows that. Santi was an attempt at a more indie rock direction, and i think that they could do that. If they signed to a different label that allowed that kind of transition.

So yeah, i agree that they need to sign with someone else to give them freedom in another sound, where FBR is sort of desperate to keep to one sound that sells, but doesn't sell well with some of their bands on their current roster.

alltimehoe93
01/22/09, 09:02 PM
Wikipedia is telling me something muy interesante, I did not know that:
"The song "Crowded Room" features Gabe Saporta (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabe_Saporta) from Cobra Starship (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobra_Starship),and Mason Musso (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mason_Musso) from Metro Station (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metro_Station_(band)). There is also additional piano playing from Blake Healy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blake_Healy) from Metro Station (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metro_Station) as well as Andrew McMahon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_McMahon) of Jack's Mannequin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack%27s_Mannequin)."
I need to listen to it again lol

I agree with most of this. The only thing is that I thought Fast Times was a fairly enjoyable pop record. I liked it but I want them to head more in the direction of Santi or Almost Here except that I know that Almost Here isn't going to happen again which is such a shame. I agree with what you said about going the indie rock route that Santi was headed.

I don't like that FBR is so controlling, if a band wants variety, so be it, bring the variety. I don't like that they're trying to focus all of their sounds to be so similar.

this is how i think of fast times.
tracks 1 - 6: all sound the same but they're catchy as fuck.
tracks 7 & 8: forgettable
track 9: good track. it's different to the rest of the album.
tracks 10 & 11: songs you would listen to every now and then...

02/12/09, 10:39 AM
I think Santi is their best record. It has a grittiness to it that Almost Here doesn't have (but makes up for in terms of summertime feel-goodness), and the new one, well I only listened once. It sounded like a tightened up and very polished Almost Here, which while good in theory, didn't work as well as a finished product.

That's true, it would be unfair. You have a good perspective on all of it, I think. I know what you mean, a lot of people really hate Santi which is weird to me. I mean, it is far from their best but to be fair, comparisons aside, it's still a really good record, in my opinion. i honestly love Santi. yeah fast times is really catchy but when i put Santi on I feel like they went for a different sound. And it works out to be an awesome record.

Santi is the better album, but I still think that Fast Times could have been a great EP.

this is how i think of fast times.
tracks 1 - 6: all sound the same but they're catchy as fuck.
tracks 7 & 8: forgettable
track 9: good track. it's different to the rest of the album.
tracks 10 & 11: songs you would listen to every now and then...
track 12: good song.

and this is coming from someone who likes the new album.
the b-sides are a good listen though.

Huh. Sounds like an alright album to me, although I doubt it tops Almost Here. That one's my favorite.

Almost Here is one of my favorite records...ever. SO GOOD! Fast Times was a disappointment though.

Fast Times was such a let down... I only like "Rumored Nights", "After the Last Midtown Show", "Paper Chase", and "Coppertone." I feel like "Coppertone" especially would fit in well on Santi...

FTABH should have been an EP.

If you took the best 5-6 song from that record, that would have be a mind blowing EP.

I only like iced green tea from Panera Bread haha. Other than that, I'm not so into tea.

I really did not realize that Fast Times is as memorable as it is. It's making me sad.
EDIT: I meant to say that it's not memorable haha.

The iced green tea it is!

Fast Times had it's moments. I just wish it was an EP or the other songs were as good.

It's pretty impossible to pick a favorite track off of Almost Here. That record was fucking great. I love Same Blood and Neighbors off of Santi. Also, if I'm sad enough, I listen to Everything We Had like a madman. I also appreciate One More Weekend and Rumored Nights are great.

You?

It would really be hard to pick a favorite from Almost Here since it's one of my favorite records ever, but if I had to choose, it would be The Phrase That Pays and Skeptics and True Believers. Sleeping with Giants is definitely my favorite from Santi. After the Last Midtown show from FTABH.

All awesome songs. I'm headed off, bye bye Jay
