View Full Version : Brand New w/ Manchester Orchestra at Lupo's
Lupo's in Providence Rhode Island December 3, 2009
The show was super awesome, both bands did great. First Brand New show I've been to, I didn't notice Jesse being rude or anti-social like I've heard here.

Nice set. Never been to a Brand New show, but plan to next chance I can. But one question, have they retired Millstone? Or has anyone heard of it being played lately?

Im not a YFW fan, so I'm happy with the setlist I got at my show which was all Deja, Devil, and Daisy. But for the pop punk fans, Im sure they went crazy at this show.

I like the video for Gasoline. I love how they pull that off live.

I don't believe it was played on the fall tour, it was played once or twice in England this past summer.

They played it when I saw them in March with The Dear Hunter and mewithoutYou.

I would not have been happy with that setlist. I want three Your Favourite Weapon songs at most in my setlists, and they're 70x7, No Seatbelt Song and Shower Scene. Seeing as I think this will be the only time Brand New are playing in England in 2010 I'm hoping for some sort of dream set. I would take The Quiet Things over Jude Law any day of the week.

Nice set. When I caught em they played 5 YFW as well with Mix Tape in place of Shower Scene.

Its an influential album a lot of people grew up listening to. Believe it or not, that was still Jessie, Vin, Garret, and Brian on YFW. And they are incredibly fun songs live. Ridiculous, I know. I mean hearing bands span their discography is just fucking gay.

I care more about hearing actually good songs that I like, as opposed to cookie cutter pop punk songs.

I like Deja and TDAG more than YFW as well, as do most Brand New fans. But I still love YFW and I grew up on that pop punk and hearing Mix Tape/Jude Law/70 live was sweet.

This show was simply amazing, although I was at Manchester's Apple Store performance in NYC 2 days before and it was the EXACT same setlist except they played sleeper in NYC.

Too bad Brand New doesn't care what you want. They play what they want to play.
At the first night in Philly on this tour we got Jude Law and 70x7, and it was a nice surprise, but they also played their newer material as well. So don't make it seem like all they do is play YFW stuff.

God dammit, why did I get the worst setlist of the tour with not ONE single YFW jam...
Why the fuck do people want your favorite weapon songs?! Ridiculous.
Because it's probably their best album.

You must know how to suck at life, if all you do in this thread is talk shit on an album that was made, what, 6 years ago?
The band has changed by then, we all know that, it's obvious. Believe it or not, there are still people out there that actually like Your Favourite Weapon, me being one of them. I love the hell out of the new stuff, but the old stuff is still played a lot in my library as well.
If you suck at life.
ITT: "MY OPINION IS THE ONLY CORRECT ONE!"
Look at it this way. Early Thrice is different from current Thrice. Some are bigger fans of the older stuff, some are bigger fans of the newer stuff. Same thing goes with Brand New. YFW and Deja are amazing, Devil and God and Daisy are decent in my opinion. You clearly think the opposite. At the end of the day we both still love the band, but for different reasons and neither reason is of more value than the other.
