Top EP's Of The Year

There's a billion favorite album of the year threads, so why not favorite EPs? EPs usually have better quality music, needed since they are shorter. As time goes on, I'll update the thread with my reviews. I'll be finished with my list by the end of the month. Since it is so difficult to order these, I have only ordered my top 3, surrounded by honorable mentions. First off is Rookie Of The Year - Since I Left Your World

December is here, meaning it is time for the best of the year lists. To kick things off is Rookie Of The Year. I had heard of them before this EP, however I had not given much of a listen to them. After hearing such positive comments on AP.net, as well as there being an exclusive early listen of the track, I decided to look into it. Now it's one of my favorite EPs of the year.

The title track, Since I Left Your World is a great introduction to Rookie Of The Year's style. Their acoustic guitar/piano combo works extremely well in separating themselves from other bands. They diversify by adding other instruments including drums, electric guitar, and even tambourine in some songs. The songs still stay catchy even with the tranquility of the album

Surprised no one's said Dear Jack yet. That was by far my favorite, though Bon Iver, Death Cab, Rookie of the Year, and A Wilhelm Scream [which I just checked out] are excellent as well.

Also I really enjoyed Tigers Jaw's Spirit Desire, I'm not sure if that's considered an EP or just a single though.

I liked it about as much as I liked the full-length, which was a lot. I just wish they had finished another album before breaking up.
