Anyone know any good bands that sing in German?
Bands for reference (though they're not in German, just an idea of what I'll like): Mew, Mum, Bon Iver, Silversun Pickups, Grammatics, Minus the Bear, Wintersleep, Nada Surf, etc etc etc..
Thanks in advance.

Die Ärzte! Without a doubt, one of the best german rock bands. They were punk in the early nineties, but they changed their style quite a bit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0r4bPWKGfyk (Die Ärzte - Schrei Nach Liebe) The video has english subtitles
Their most famous song. It's a song against Nazis. ! Amazing perfomance!
The drummer is just amazing! He plays drums standing up during the performance, while he's singing.
Another amazing band is called Kettcar. If you are into indie music, you will definitively like them.
Intense song about a long distance relationship. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeGKFw2E7vE
My personal favorite is Herbert Grönemeyer. He has a very special way to sing. You either love him or hate him.
But this song is withouth a doubt the most heartbreaking song ever. It''s an hommage to his wife who died in 1998 from cancer, 2 days after the death of his brother, also because of cancer.

I too would second Tomte. Good German indie-rock of sorts. I know of several others, but I guess they wouldn't really fit into your list. Also, don't be surprised if a German band has an English name, it's not that uncommon.

Just listen to Rammstein
They are actully quite good. 'Mutter' is a really good record.
When their lyrics are translated to English it doesn't sound as good.
'Sonne' was one of the very first Metal tracks I encountered.
