Hey all - I just posted my review (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?p=3588709) for Downtown Singapore (http://myspace.com/downtownsingapore)'s excellent Matt Squire-produced full-length debut, Don't Let Your Guard Down. The record is out now on DCide Records (http://www.dcide.com/) - I highly recommend picking it up.
Downtown Singapore is awesome. For a similar sound, check out My American Heart and Just Surrender.

1 of my good friends is best friends with a lot of them from when they were really young. the ex bass player is in his band now. theyre really cool guys and need to blow up into a big time band, i think they can do it.

This is an improvement on their EP, but it's still pretty eh. They're trying too hard to sound like Thursday for the majority of the album. An alternate opinion (http://www.punknews.org/review/5082).

nice, i love these guys. i disagree with the album being totally like "Those" bands, i think they tend to have a lot more of straight-up rock-pop feel, and the anthemic rock thing you mentioned. like TREOS with a lot more pop/catchiness to it. it's his vocals that make you think of MAH, not the music itself.
according to me, ha.

Finally, a review for this album. If you haven't bought it already and like the songs on their myspace/purevolume, buy it or just buy it for someone you know will. They do put on a good live show.

This is far from Thursday, imho.
I'm liking it, but i have have a little bit of listening time. The lyrics might start to kill it for me.
The for fans of A Thorn For Every Heart was very accurate. Why do I never see news on ATFEH, btw? I've submitted it before. They have a new song up on PV and a new cd coming out that AP never told me about haha

I grew up with the kids of D-town and have been listening to them for a long time now, and its about time that they get the recognition they deserve! Thanks Steve for taking the time to listen to these guys. Through various line up changes and people doubting them, they have stuck it out to make one of the best indie rock albums thus far. But people like you and I " we know there here to stay". Thanks Steve
