It's weird how bands get together. Some start because they want to impress this one girl and others because they want to sound like this one band.
This one started out of pure and utter boredom. 2 high school seniors in Lancaster, MA (jon and jake) wrote a song about jon's little brother having a crush on this one girl. . .which he still plainly denies to this day.
Putting the song on myspace and purevolume so their friends could hear, they were quickly inspired to create more songs just like the "joe song."
Inspired by the crafty songwriting of Hellogoodbye's frontman Forrest, Jon and Jake, who would become known as MEMORIES IN TEXAS aimed for the same target.
Jon and Jake quickly retreated to Jake's computer and whipped up what would become known as the "Welcome to Hong Kong EP," which has become popular among their circle of friends and otherwise.
To this day, Memories in Texas craft more songs that reatin the same poppyness and tongue-in-cheek humor that the songs on the WTHKEP had.
To hear more from Memories in Texas, including a cover of Hellogoodbye's "Jesse buy nothing...", check out our:
