Weren't they big on this site two years ago? Regardless, I bought the two records because I heard they were like the Blood Brothers. They're nothing like the Blood Brothers, and that sucks for me.

A simple search does not confirm they were super big around these parts, but they clearly had a following:

To those that like them, absolutely. They just aren't my thing. I'm not raging on the band, but I expected something else. The French Passion of Animality Opera is a catchy little ditty.

Love this band... back from my TFOT obsession. The new album doesn't sound nearly as experimental (no more gargling water vocals?l, which is a little dissapointing.

I really like this band. NOBODY puts on a better live show. Loved introducing Loved the first record the flamingo trigger (which I think only was locally released). Thanks dude. It was reported as news on here a few days before the game so I knew it was going down. I'm so fucking glad they're finally getting some exposure
I had not been on in a while, and had no clue it was going to be played... but me and my friends who are pretty close to the band kinda freaked when we heard our friends on the Super Bowl... it made for an awesome night haha. I am stoked for them, and the future of the Cincinnati scene in general.

kbi the crowing
02/14/10, 05:57 AM
Yes and no. Their new sound is definitely a logical progression for them but it would've been nice to have a few heavy and aggressive tracks to break up the monotony. Plus, at almost an hour, it's is way, way too long. Introducing is a tad over 30 minutes and has absolutely no fucking filler but the S/T is chock full of weak songs.

Regardless I'm sure their live show will still be batshit crazy

have you listened to it?

kbi the crowing
02/14/10, 06:38 AM
yep. two full times and I've listened to the three previously available songs a good 30 times apeice

Are you unaware it leaked a few days ago?

I mean, it was featured on a little cameo on the super bowl, to me that is pretty blown up, you know? But they will get there, I know it... they have come such a long way for sure.

Well, them being a local band for me, and seeing them from the start I personally prefer The Flamingo Trigger (First), which is their first full length. But, that is hard to get a physical copy (you'll have to download), I mean I have had mine for 4 or 5 years now. And most people that were not use to heavy (early) Foxy prefer Introducing (Second), or their Self Titled (Third)... just try them on for size and see which one fits the best, then move on to the next.

Introducing is a good mix of their spectrum. After you listen:

If you want to focus on the harder aspect of the band, listen to The Flamingo Trigger
If you want to focus on their not-so-hard aspect, check out their new Self-titled

My review didn't get posted, because the moderator thought that people wouldn't be able to understand my review.
So, since I worked on it for some time, I thought I would simply post it here

"A few months back, me and my friend went to this new restaurant, Olympic Taverna, for dinner. We first had appetizers, which weren’t that special. In all fairness, I barely even touched the appetizers, but our actual dinner afterwards was much more special and rewarding. Anyway, after eating dinner, my friend insisted on having dessert. With a menu of several basic desserts, she decided on the chocolate éclair cake. Since I was already full, I told her to count me out, but I didn’t realize that it actually isn’t even a cake (although it looks like one at first). Taking her first bite, my friend was taken aback by the sweetness of it and replied, “Bye bye symphony,” as she passed it to me. My evil thoughts took over, which lead me to finish off the rest of it.

My first bite: I didn’t know what to think. It took me off guard a bit, like a bomb going off in my mouth (in a good way). It was a little weird, but not in anyway I could pin-point. I mean the dessert isn’t too different when you look at its ingredients: graham crackers, vanilla pudding, cool whip, fudge frosting, chocolate chips. It sounds pretty basic, but how it’s mixed together is what delivers its unstoppable taste.

Starting from the bottom up, the graham crackers surely added a nice pickup to the dessert. They layer the dessert nicely. The vanilla pudding, packed on the second floor, also blends nicely with the crackers and holds them tightly together, but still enough movement so they aren’t too rigid. However, after a few bites in, these tastes get too unnoticeable from one another. The pudding becomes too meshed with the cool whip, and in other bites, it just simply isn’t there. Thankfully the mass amounts of cool-whip, that you can easily detect by just the smell of it, are strategically placed to capture the delightfulness of the crackers and pudding. These specific moments really help drive the dessert as a collective whole, without becoming too mundane.

With the top layer of chocolate fudge frosting being the most dominant and tasteful, it connects all the other flavors together and brings it to life. The fudge is what I tasted first with the dessert, and it’s what captured my senses from the start. At the point when the bottom layers become indistinguishable, the frosting is there to scream out at you in an appetizing way that makes you want to stand up and praise, “Oh Lord!” To some, including my friend, the wanna-be angel frosting may be too sweet and over-the-top, but in a time when almost all frostings are pre-made, packaged, and mass-produced, they tend to become tasteless and dull. This frosting, being made directly from the restaurant’s kitchen, however, is some of the purest fudge you can taste. Sprinkled about in the frosting are chocolate chips, which in most bites (if you can even notice them) don’t taste like much at all. A few bites may have more chips and more crunch than others, but they aren’t nearly as sweet as the delightful frosting.

Overall the dessert was simply delicious. Towards the end, when I was killin’ it off, I had to pace myself. Even though it’s a small dessert square, it’s packed with so much in a seemingly sweet way that not everyone is going to fully appreciate it the first time. I even went back a few weeks ago to try it again, and it was as equally good, if not better than the first time. The chocolate éclair cake may at first seem like a typical dessert, but with enough cool whip, fudge frosting, and time (it has to sit for 12 hours before it can be served) it can warm its way into your heart, even if it is with an axe."

My favorite Foxy song has always been Ghost Animals and will always remain that way.
I like their new direction; 1. because bands aren't good if they don't progress, and 2. because they are good at both old and new styles.
... But I can definitely say for myself that Introducing is their best album. It has the most dynamic contrast in genres.
Whether or not any of y'all agree with me, that's how I feel.
Foxy Shazam is by far one of the most innovative bands out there though. Hands down.

Bump to see what people think of the new songs. I really like I Like It, and I've only listened to Welcome to the Church of Rock and Roll once (I'm going to preorder the album, so just gonna wait til I get my free download to really listen to it) but I like that even more. The album's gonna be great. I'm so excited.

Yeah... I was just wondering..

When I saw them last year they didn't play anything off it, but it was a short set.

What an experience seeing them live!

I've just been so impressed by their two previous releases and the build-up they're giving it.

I was just saying the opposite of you said; nothing more meant of it.

Though I doubt it will be anyway because when people say what you said, it more often than not doesn't happen.

Right, right. In 2010, though, Motion City Soundtrack's My Dinosaur Life released three weeks into January...and it ended up being #1 for me that year. Ever since then, I've never underestimated the power of an early in the year release. That's why I'm super amped for not only their's, but Enter Shikari's as well.

I'm listening to The Church of Rock and Roll and I'm loving it so far. The album sounds great. I'm gonna be spinning it the whole day. They deserve to get famous with this album. Last Chance at Love is so catchy!

Thats the biggest black ass i've ever seen
And I like it, I like it, a lot

My gangsta girl
With the wavy curl
And a sexy
Street talking slang
You mesmerize
Me and you mess with I
When you booty pop and drop it
Like it aint no thing
