rec me some stuff along the lines of POS, Atmosphere, and Heiruspecs. I've been on a huge hip hop kick lately and most of the mainstream stuff does it for me. Fuck, most of the shit coming out today is killing the legacy of hip hop as it is.

Sage Francis, The Coup (hit or miss for me, but some is GREAT), Blackalicious, Pigeon John...

I have a free download of an album by CookBook on my website if you wanna check him out, he's pretty solid.

Common Market - big time, the whole package... some high energy tracks, a lot of laidback ones... RA Scion's flow is remarkable and his lyrics are incredible, the beats are great, overall you get kind of an old-school feel and it's some of the best "conscious" hip-hop you'll find.

Eyedea - if you like Atmosphere you've probably already heard of him, they've done shit together. Pretty well known underground rapper. Great freestyler. In Eyedea & Abilites it's just some good old hip-hop.

B.o.B - just pick up his mixtapes, he's insane. Makes all his own beats himself, and he's sick.

Chiddy Bang - fantastic group (now duo)... beats are largely sample-based, but not just rehashed like most sampled hip-hop, and they're great. Lyrics are great (I used to think Lil Wayne was the master of metaphor in rap, but since he's gone to shit, I've come around to Chiddy)

Kid Cudi - getting mainstream these days. I personally love his album, but even if you don't, get his mixtapes (A Kid Named Cudi and Dat Kid From Cleveland). "The Prayer" is one of the best songs I've heard in recent memory (samples a Band of Horses song in the beat) and it never made it to the album. Even as he grows in fame I'll stand by it, I think Cudi is sick.

Yak Ballz - I was surprised anyone using this name as a musician existed, but he's actually dirty (and not a joke like you'd guess)

Busdriver - listen and you'll be shocked. Lyrics are borderline ridiculous (in every sense of the word) and he can rap twice as fast as Twista. His music is a trip but it's damn good.

MF Doom - one of my favorite MCs of all time. Can't say enough, honestly
