I don't necessary disagree with your point about his relevance, but the two E albums that are mentioned as making the Top 10 selling albums of the decade are from 2000 and 2002.

Yes, 2 of his albums made the top ten. He also is the top selling artist for the past ten years which would include all of his work from 2000-now..

Well you're saying it's a good thing for an artist not to reach the sales Eminem has provided.
Why is that? I know if any of the artist on here were top selling artist of the decade kids would shit bricks.

I dont listen to rap much anymore, i find alot of it now a days very watered down and generic. But eminem is an amazing artist and no one can doubt that. I didn't feel relapse much.. But after hearing this song from relapse:refill; I have high hopes for relapse 2. Hes definatly been improving the quality of his word play. I think the song above is my new found favorite by his because of the chorus.

"there once was a saying, I used to say. Back in the day when I met dre. I used to sit and goof on the phone with my friend proof; that if i went gold; I go right through the roof. He said "what if you went platnium". I just laughed at him. Thats not happen'n/ That I cant fathom. 80- somethin million records world wide later. Im living in a house with a fuckin elevator."

like most of his work, as a musician myself this is
very inspirational to me. It shows a little persistancy(sp?) and really anything can happen.

I think he is still relevant because besides the fact that he makes some of the worst radio songs ever he is contributing to saving hip hop.
The reason no band will ever accomplish this is plain & simple because it isn't like that any more for bands.

Rap and some hip hop (ie:em,nas, common, ect) is something much more accessible that is why it is so successful. If you sell less than a million in rap it is considered a flop, however most bands will never even reach those numbers.

I dont think the chorus is the most brilliant part of the song, Its either when he uses the two words Fake and it to sounds likes hes sayins a derogatory term. Or where he says chainsaw slaughters turn your daughters into saw dust. His flow is getting better..i guess thats what i should have implyed when talking about the chorus. Either way relapse 2 shouldnt disappoint.

People talk about the Beatles on this site and guess what? They've achieved more than that Eminem will ever achieve, his records couldn't even beat out a Beatles compilation record, so that says something, doesn't it? He only beat out the Beatles by 2 million records, so in hindsight, it's not even that big of a victory for him.

I would like to point out, according to OP's logic, High School Musical:The Soundtrack would be one of the best cds to come out in 2006 because it sold the most copies that year.

Well I'm not an Eminem fan but I'd say he certainly deserves the fame compared to all of the artists in the AP scene or whatever.Just because a band doesn't sell 32 million cds does in no way make "starving barely making a living."

I loved Eminem was when i was 11-13 years old. I recently went back and listened to The Marshall Mathers LP and it made me sick to think that was/is being marketed to such young kids. He talks about raping and killing his mother and blatant violence towards homosexuals and regardless of what you may say about censorship and whatever, that shit is not cool and its way less cool that it is being marketed to kids so young. No, my parents would have never allowed me to listen to it but I had friends from school burn it for me and listen to it behind their backs. Eminem is a scumbag white trash loser who got lucky selling hate to kids.

You are a moron if you think Eminem went out trying to sell his message to kids. That makes zero sense, if you don't like it than don't listen to it dont say Eminem made you because of his deceptive marketing to kids. thats 100 percent bullshit.

Please go to the front page, and tell me how many country/rap/pop/classical/non-rock news posts you see on it. Go to the profiles and see the ratio of rock to everything else. Reviews? Gallery? Interviews? Releases? Articles? Its just about all rock. Obviously there's talk of other genres in the forums... but thats user generated content.
