Just curious.

Usually, it is the AL East with Boston and New York loaded at the top. But, this season, with the Tigers and White Sox in the Central it's hard for me not to pick them. Everyone in that division is a good team with the exception of Kansas City. The same can't be said for the AL East.

Good point. If we're going on this year alone, I think I'd have to change my vote to the AL Central.

I really don't see how you could say anything other than AL East.

Theres three teams that are like within 4 games of the top.

The O's and Rays obviously weigh the division down with the suck but those top 3 teams make up for it. No other division has three really solid teams vying for the top spot

AL Central is ChiSox and Tigers... the Twins are bad they ain't doin it
AL West has Oakland and Texas but none of those teams are spectacular. Only 5 games above .500 for the both of them.
NL East... Basically the Mets. the Phillies might win the WC but they arent gonna challenge the Mets for the division at this point.
NL Central is the Cardinals until Pujols retires. Maybe Cincy wins the WC... MAYBE the Astros win the WC with Clemens shot in the arm.
NL West is the most BALANCED but none of the teams are gonna blow anyone anyway. all those teams would be in 2nd or 3rd place in a better division so I have a hard time saying that division is the "best", even if Gammons said it was.

HOW CAN YOU SAY AL CENTRAL?
DEFEND YOURSELVES.

Other than the Tigers and White Sox, they are WORSE than the AL East.

The Jays are better than the Twins and the O's are slightly (2 games in the loss column, 0 in the win) worse than the Indians. The Rays are FAR better than the Royals.

This depends on your definition of best. Yes, the AL East has 2 teams that have a good chance of fighting for the pennant every year.

However, I take best to mean most exciting to watch, most dramatic, etc. and for me that is the NL West. Every team is over .500, and all within a game and a half of first.

Maybe mikeford is right, its the most balanced, but that fits my definition of best for the regular season.

no contest...al east.

yanks and sox and blue jays are all in contention with the loser probably getting the wild card slot.

Yea, thankfully, unless the tigers do a free fall, one of those damn teams wont be in the playoffs. makes me happy.
Its good to see 2 teams that have farmgrown players doing so well (ChiSox & Tigers)

tigers are decent. they have not played well against upper echelon teams.

I still think the Tigers will take the Wildcard.

but the question wasnt whos gonna make the playoffs. the question is what division is the best.

the tigers are not as good as the yankees or sox. they are better than the jays but if the tigers keep playing not very well against the upper level teams you can expect to not see them in oct.

Yeah, I went with the AL Central. I give them a slight edge because I think it's a deeper division and the combination of the White Sox and Tigers is just as good as the Yanks/Sox/Jays competition.

i think you could almost flip a coin though ... and I'm sure this will change 2 months from now just like the NL Central was probably the best for the first 1 1/2 months of the season.

I went with the AL Central, though i think it's a tie with the AL Central and the AL East. and the tie-breaker is that the Tigers are in the AL Central.

NL West. All 5 teams are above .500 and just have been beating up on each other. Who knows, if any of these teams were in another division their win percentage probably will be higher. This is what pisses me off about the unbalanced schedule. Sure other divisions might have a team better then all the teams in this one division but overall this is the toughest division at the moment.

Yes, because our first slump of the season that happened to come at our roughest spot in the schedule is an accurate way to judge our team. We've got a better pitching staff than both the red sox and yankees and we play in Comerica park, one of the biggest pitching parks around. If anything, i question our offense since we're so predicated on the Homerun ball in such a monsterous ballpark. Also, we've got a mental hurdle to try and overcome when it comes to the white sox. I'm more worried about them than I am about the yankees or Red Sox.

i don't agree with everyone saying AL east. Yea, the Yanks and Bosox are probably the 2 best teams in MLB, but they also get to play the D-rays 20 or so times a year... that kind of skews their numbers a bit.
