Okay, I'm filling out a college application and they're asking me to list any accomplishments, talents, ect.

What the fuck should I put here? I mean, when I think too much about it, I come up with nothing and that is just depressing. Its really not healthy for me to think about this too much.

What would be some "acceptable" things to list? I know nobody personally knows me here but I just need some examples.

did you ever play sports?

you were talking about selling your guitar a while ago, so you can list how you're a musician.

Did you ever volunteer for anything? Like, I listed I did the Walk For Hunger one year, and a Cancer Walk another year. Plus sports, or any clubs you were in high school.

I never filled out anything for that, and got accepted to every school I applied to. Albeit I didn't really apply for any good schools, I still got in.

have you won any awards? they might be really stupid ones, but the college probably won't know the difference.

Yeah, I was thinking about putting this down but I don't know if it would help me out because of what I want to study. I want to go into screenwriting and I have no professional experience in any kind of writing.

I played sports in middle school. I didn't do anything special in high school. I was just a dumb kid who wanted to be a rockstar and have fun. I never finished high school either. I have a GED. Would it be sad if I mentioned that I scored exceptionally high on my GED test? haha

Hmm, put down things like you have a job, and things you're good at (in mine I said excercising, video games, singing, etc.)My rationale was that everybody puts down the same thing so I wanted to give them a different view of myself that will help me stand out from the rest. It sorta worked, I got into 3 of my 6 schools. 50% isn't that bad.

Yeah, I'll probably put a bunch of stuff like that. Mainly music. The only problem I have with that is that I'm not going there for music. From what I know, almost anyone could get into this school. If I have the money, they will probably let me in because in reality, all they want is my money anyways.

Would it be sad if I mentioned that I scored exceptionally high on my GED test? haha While it'd be great if you had experience in writing, things like sports, etc show that you can have a commitment to something (like 4 years of education), and that's what the colleges look at them for. Also, if you aren't active and doing something in high school, they'd assume you'd be the same way in college, and while you might get good grades, you wouldn't improve campus life.

So, listing instruments, etc shows that you ahve interests beyond textbooks you'd pursue

For example, my SAT's were good, my GPA was decent (but it could have been better), but my activities list was filled with sports, Boy Scouts, etc... When a college sees that, they'd think, smart kid who is very active...someone who'd improve campus life by being active while still getting decent grades.
If they compared that so someone with similiar SAT's, a better GPA, but few or no activities, they'd probably pick the kid with activities because they don't neccesarily want a college full of bookworms who will creat a dull social life.
