No idea if this has been done before, but I found it interesting how one favorite band has influenced my next and how genres have evolved into my current tastes.

What've been your favorite bands throughout the years? Mine would be:

Britney Spears
N 'Sync
A*Teens
Good Charlotte
Nirvana (typical)
Blink-182
Brand New
Taking Back Sunday
A Day To Remember
Alexisonfire

coheed is my top favorite, I guess
everything before coheed I don't listen to much anymore
everything after coheed is still a favorite band

shitty pop music
linkin park, system of a down (2001/2002)
coheed & cambria (2003/2004)
the fall of troy, minus the bear (summer 2007)
portugal. the man, the sound of animals fighting, the dear hunter, nine inch nails (somewhere from winter-summer 2008)
every time I die, brand new (earlier this year, still curious as to if I'd consider them favorites though)

i listened to most of these for a while before they became a favorite

I had a big Def Leppard phase... glad that's over with.

Hahaha, the bell curve picture is the only redeeming thing about this thread.

Circa 1998/00: N*Sync, Christina A., shitty pop punk bands etc.

2006/to now: City and Colour, Bane, Gaslight Anthem and mostly hardcore etc

I don't see the correlation.

Edit: A part of me is still waiting on that N*Sync reunion tour.

I don't know. I liked Phil Collins a lot when I was a kid because my mom played No Jacket Required frequently. I liked scene music around '02-'06ish. Then I started listening to other stuff beyond that. I don't really have a favorite artist. I have a few that I'm very fond of, though.

I bought my first Beethoven CD at age eight. Unfortunately its a reverse evolution for me.

^Same here. From like 2-7 I listened to what my parents listened to and it was Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and stuf like that then, in the middle it was shitty pop. Although I want the reunion to happen. :/

My favorite bands seven years ago:

-dc Talk
-Disciple
-Pillar
-Linkin Park
-POD
-Audio Adrenaline
-The O.C. Supertones

My favorites three years ago:

-dc Talk
-Haste the Day
-Disciple
-mewithoutYou
-Avril Lavigne
-Bloodlined Calligraphy
-Norma Jean

These days:

-Thrice
-dc Talk
-The National
-Some other random stuff. Don't feel like name-dropping, especially since my name-drops won't be all that special. Diverse, maybe, but still nothing special.

So, I've come a long way, and yet, at the same time, haven't abandoned most of my past favorites.

This has been done numerous times already. The results basically never change either:

Shitty radio pop
Shitty pop-punk
Shitty mall indie/universally accepted classics
